Who knows how long it will take our employers (Federal for me and State of IL for Sandee) to process and finalize our retirement pay. Winter Ranch offered 3 months for the price of 4 for first time customers. That should be enough time for our payments to be sorted out and stabilized. We do plan to make a couple side trips from there during that time.

Now...if the weather would not get nasty up here in IL until after we leave...
Alamo, eh? Parking AND car rental at the same place. Cool!

Nov. 30 in IL and you're hoping the weather doesn't get nasty? How long have you lived here? Reality check!!!

Hope to see you before then, btw. We sorta had a date for out on our hill ... w/o a specific date, though. Y'all think up one, I might make a counter offer, and well git'er done!

Cheers!
Sue -- at the Palace Campground near Galena IL for the weekend. And no, the kitchen slide has not been fixed yet. Still working toward that.

X2 and I do hope the small leakage is not a serious one and can be tracked down and cared for forthwith, presently I have a small leakage on the Lodge as well, but the fix is on the way, and I already have the fluids to replenish what has leaked, so life is good, and even if we backtrack we are still moving forward.

Cheers !!!

I'm thinking we need contributing RVM news letter writers. You know, for special topics maybe?

Okay, I cant think of any topics.
How about ponderances?
Roster keepers?

RVM thoughts on this?

Steve mentioned the list-serv that I set up. To those who don't know what a list-serv does, or why we might use one, here's the short version --

It's an email based communication system. Irv2 is a forum based system and everyone with a computer can read what you write. Our list will only go to vetted RVMs who choose to sign up. We can more freely discuss things that we don't want the whole wide world to know.

It is NOT meant to take the place of the forum, but it is to augment the forum.

The list is called RVM2RVM. To sign up just click on okmunky to the left and select "send an email to okmunky" from the drop down menu. Then put list in the subject line and in the body of the email and send. If you would prefer to use a different email address then just let me know.

There are many other things that we can do with the list, but I'll save those surprises for members only

Yes, for sure on Honey as an RVM mascot.

And another reason a list-serv is useful... no moderators to censor our use of the English language. We just have to respect that even tho we are all adults, we weren't all sailors.

Well mutants, I guess it's time to bear my soul.
This has been one heck of a tree weeks.

Back in April I had the Amish cooling unit installed in Bonita Bounder. The Norcold 1210 had run perfectly since we got her. With all the talk of fires and failures I went ahead and had the change made and a halon extinguisher installed for good measure - there is fire, electricity, heat and water there so why not?

Well the Amish unit would not hold temps. First run out - it cooled down to - 9 and 33 just fine, but as each day wore on it would rise to low single digits in the freezer and around 45 in the box and then cool down again. I could not hear the fans run. Took it back to the guy and he apologized and got the fans going and assured me it was good to go. Next trips out - same thing with fans running. Would not hold temps. I decided I did not want to deal with the guy anymore and found a new guy.

Come tomorrow, he will have had Bonita three weeks. He checked it out and said it was a bad unit and called Pines. They put him through the hoops and finally made him pull it and reinstall. In the process he added two more fans at tje top - so two below blowing on the fins and two above pulling from the fins and out. He told Pines if he was going to reinstall they needed to get him new mastic and foam, and agreed to do it under protest. So he got that and reinstalled Monday and Wednesday morning he called and told Pines - get me a unit by Friday so your customer can go on his journey. He picked it up this afternoon and I just got word that he has it in and tested - electronics, gas, etc and it is cooling. We will see in the morning how well it is working and are leaving anyway - two Coleman coolers in the storage bays for good measure. Pines is paying $380 of labor so I'm getting a little break there. Hopefully all will be frosty on the rainbow.

This is all part of the journey but to add to the fun, apparently when my friend checked the pressure on my steer tire, passenger side, the core didn't pop out and when Annie took some things up on Tuesday morning she called and said the tire looked low. Bonitas jacks are down so it was hard for her to tell how low it was. When I got there Tuesday evening with my BIL it registered 0000. We aired it up and soaped it down and not a bubble to be found. The past few days she has checked it and the repair guy I'm using for the Amish reinstall has too. No leak, but in the meantime I have learned that Toyo doesn't make a 275/70R/22.5 - only 265 and 295 75's that won't work. The two best places for tires nearby have not heard of the FMCA Michelin program but would try. For now - tires are A-OK.

So I've been on the journey 3 weeks already!! And having a ball. Work wrapped up. RVM News out. Annie has us all packed and ready. Life as a mutant is good!

You mutants are all Grand and I'm looking forward to this vacation and meeting all of you one day soon. By then I may have a residential fridge and new tires - two things a mutant needs and would miss!

Another pondering mutation.

If you were running a race, and you passed the person in 2nd place, what place would you be in now?
