Thankfully, just found out the two blown hydraulic lines are for the rear Jack and easily accessible. Should be half the anticipated cost.

That and the fact that I get several $$$$ back from the government after having done my taxes eases the burden a bit!

Phew!

Howdy Mutants!! I'm happy to report that we made it home today. Yesterday we got to use our Coach-net roadside coverage for the first time since we started it 3 years ago. We were traveling west on I-10 and just exited the Achafalaya Basin bridge near Breaux Bridge LA. Decided to fill up with gas since we could see bad weather approaching and pulled into a station. During the walk-around we noticed that our Jeep toad had a low tire on the front passenger side and was leaking down FAST.

It went totally flat while we were filling with fuel, and the rainstorm blew in, soaking us to the bone while we tried to get moved out of the fuel lane by unhooking the Jeep. We finally maneuvered the coach and the Jeep out of the way and called Coach-net since the gas station did not have full service. (In fact, it was attached to a casino!) We had road service in less than 30 minutes from Coach-net, including the tire change.

We were so wet and tired that we pulled to the back of the casino lot with other RVs, bought sandwiches from the Quiznos next door, and watched the rain before going to bed. We are so thankful that we made it across that 18-mile swamp bridge without incident! (Not to mention bumper-to-bumper rush hour in Baton Rouge.)

Here's the bridge and approaching weather...

The fact that this picture exists on the Internet is only slightly less disturbing than the fact I found it.

Excellent timing... and service. Glad you're safely home. Also - it was good to hear the two patients were improving.

Again... it was really great meeting you two. We will do it again!

I hate driving that bridge, Sarah. Can't imagine that someone might not be real happy if you tied up one lane during rush hour. That's a capital offense in LA, isn't it? Louisiana and Los Angeles both.

I think of thumbs up as a Siskel and Ebert vote of approval. And - thumbs up as an AF or other pilots signal to another that all is well. I don't know what thumb is - but don't want one in my eye... the Droid isn't as emoticon friendly as the fruit phone - so maybe it's a Droid thing.

Thanks, Steve. It was really nice to meet so many of the STMs at CL! Our thanks again to you and Annie and all the others who worked so hard on the GC. Such a fun group of genuinely nice people; we are so glad to have met you all.

Hey Barb! I'm pretty sure we would have been on the s-list of commuters if we had broken down in rush hour traffic (which apparently starts at 3 p.m.) We lived in Baton Rouge in the early '90s so we have traveled that bridge and route to Houston many, many times.

I'm just glad our first "breakdown" was fairly benign, and that the nice young man from Coach-net was out in the downpour changing that tire!!

I hope I get to share another beer with Miss Sena someday soon.

Thanks, Di! It was great meeting you all! We hated to miss the rest of the festivities, but we don't regret missing the hail! I hope everyone with damage is getting their rigs/toads repaired without too much hassle.

Ray says "hi"!!
