Do you know any good places in east TX?

If I can get the iPhone from Kate, I'll post some of the pics I took when Barb and I were at PD. I cannot emphasize enough how great the outdoor musical drama is. Check out the web site https://www.texas-show.com/ Palo Duro is just beautiful right now. You'd still be ok through May and June, but in late June through mid-September, you'll get some really hot days. Of course, with the much lower humidity out here, 100 degrees doesn't feel nearly as hot here as it feels in East Texas or Arkansas. Evenings cool down a lot and are very pleasant.

We lived in Tyler (east TX) for over 10 years and were in almost every state park in East Texas. We loved Tyler State Park and Daingerfield State Park. Just pretty settings. I've heard good things about Caddo Lake SP, but that was one we never went to. We took the boys fishing at Lake Bob Sandlin SP, too, and loved it. When camping there with friends one time, we rented a party barge and spent the day on the lake. Great fun.

Texas State Park web site will give you lots of info. Texas State Parks - Texas Parks & Wildlife Department

If y'all do decide to come out to PD, let us know. Maybe we could make it a mini, at least for a night or two.

Congrats on your beautiful new Jeep! So very happy for you and Larry. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!

Everyone who comes has to bring a toy for a youngster and our society makes sure that everyone gets something from 'Santa' at Christmas. Since the forestry industry collapsed on the Island there are huge areas of high unemployment so we try to assist the parents with needs.

We've had as many as 2500 bikers in town for the weekend and we've pulled in over a million in cash and a 1/2 million in toys and there is no monetary reward to the members. Every dime we get in goes to the kids in need. The day begins with a bike parade into town, a family fun day (everything free) at a local park, kids games, bike games (some involving the kids) food and then a huge dance for the adults to culminate the day.

The money is dispersed to schools for feeding breakfast and lunch to students, special needs programs and such. Toys are dispersed to groups that provide emergency hampers and Christmas hampers, and Ambulance, Fire and police departments along with search and rescue get stuffies to give to kids in distress when the need arises.

We even support fund a minor camping program.

See

Please note how the biker parade is treated as a great fun event as the locals line the streets to welcome the participants to town.
I am so very impressed! The truth is much better than my strange fiction.

In either event, I've long held the 21st year as the standard.

I know, Steve; but we all have to grow up sooner or later.
