New update on car repairs to hail damage.
$6684
We were supposed to get the Linky out of shop today but when the guy was installing the new roof molding he spotted a couple more hail dents, so it is in paint today and most likely will be finished Tuesday. (Holiday weekend.) Sure do miss a second car. Turned in the rental. Only had authorizations, and according to my insurance policy, for 20 days.

You need to be careful posing all those homy things you can do. Shara may think you're trolling for mutant girlfriends.
Nice job, very nice indeed.

I'm suspecting that many other mutants there may have had damage that they are not aware of. Best it is inspected by professionals.
Considering that the majority of time in Citrus has been on the road or in open sunlight, I don't think having the sun beat down on any roof is good for it. Most likely it can crystallize things. Consider the rubber roofs. What damage under the rubber was cause by hail. Dwayne posted shortly after the hail storm what could happen to rubber roofs. I'll stay with the fiberglass if it is an option or standard equipment.
The sides received glancing blows but even the aluminum bay doors took damage.

Once again, I am in awe of your skills. Will there be any 2 parts left together when you finish stripping it? I always end up with a few extra screws or bolts when I disassemble something and put it back together.
I can't wait to see the finished car. What color?
|
I know I was messing back.
No 2 parts will be together when I'm done.
Not sure i think he is going stock dark blue.

Saying goodbye to our sweet cabin in the mountains!
Kate and I are in Ruidoso packing up the contents (except furniture) at our beloved home in the mountains. Time to turn it into an income property to help fund our FT RV life ... Which is just around the corner!
So many wonderful memories here of time we shared with family and friends. We will miss it, but as Kate said, "Time to start a new chapter in our lives." We will always treasure the memories.
Now, time to make memories on the Rainbow trail! We are getting closer. We talked today about getting started sooner than originally planned. But all will depend on these darn knees of mine. If insurance will authorize BOTH to be replaced at the same time soon, I can have it done, recover and rehab, and get on the road in late February or early March.
Have to admit, that surgery kinda scares me! But Barb did it, so I can, too. She's my role model.

We had our HHR returned to us in late afternoon today. Looks good as new. No pics. Finally tally was $8,900. That was $1,200 over the estimate. Parts not in yet for the MH.

Good deal Papa Steve. I sort of wished I kept my HHR instead of trading it in for the Equinox. I would've ignored the hail damage on it as it was a 2006 and not worth fixing. Oh well, mine is going to the shop Tuesday, they said a week. Current estimate is $6500, we'll see what the final total will be after they're done.
