GC2.0 @ Bryce Canyon, Utah

Thanks Steve! I found that my Verizon Mifi will work MUCH better if I reboot it and my iPad every time I go online. I have good 4G at the moment.

The folks at Ruby's are really nice and very helpful. I mentioned RVMutants and they knew who I was talking about -- even mentioned that another registered today -- must be Ed!

We are close enough to hear the PA system from the rodeo tonight. Lily wanted to join the chorus. For a tiny little town there seems to be lots to do here and if you speak any second language you are likely to hear someone speaking it here. Lots of international visitors!

If you have not gone online to look at photos of Bryce Canyon you are missing a most unique landscape. It almost seems as if it belongs on another planet.

This is my second trip here in the last 4 years and I'm still in awe of the sights. If you have any questions please ask.

Bryce Update -
Ok, so here's the info I got today at Ruby's campground just outside Bryce Canyon.

Our assigned block of sites are the following numbers 101-104, 111, 113-115, 119-122. They do have free wifi, but some sites will receive better coverage than others. The antenna is on top of the restrooms just north of our block or to the right on their map, but all sites have mature trees which might affect coverage. There is very good wifi reception at the office.

The roads are asphalt, but the sites are gravel, actually more like caliche. All are pull thru, FHU 30/50 amp.

There is a free park service shuttle bus that stops on the road in front of the campground if you don't want to drive.

There is a $25/car entry fee to get into the canyon unless you have a NPS pass. You can buy or obtain the free access pass (for disabled) at the gate. Look on the park website for info.
Ruby's has a pool and they sell propane.

There are decent boondocking sites in the Dixie national forest less than a mile from Ruby's. One spot I know would hold 4-5 smaller RVs, but it might help if someone got there a few days early to stake claim to it.

Any questions?
Barb

Now that there's a awesome Scouting Report!

This is a repeat from previous days....

Attention Mutants!
I have just blocked 12 sites at
Ruby's Inn - RV Park and Camp Ground just outside Bryce Canyon. (See Link Below).

Dates: Aug. 15th - 23rd - departing the 24th or stay longer if you wish.

I did 8 days because it is a fair distance for many Mutants to journey - and there is lots to see and do. There is no weekly rate - it's fixed at caravan rate.

Bryce Canyon Camping | Camping in Bryce Canyon

I spoke with Krisette and she is delightful! With 10 or more rigs we get the Caravan Rate of $37.95 + tax.

Cancellation Policy: 48 hour cxl policy no charge, or 1 night rate if less 48 hours notice.

Rubys is Almost - 8000 feet above sea level and will be quite pleasant that time of year.

We are Registered as - wait for it - RVMutants! You may call and reserver your site at any time:
(435) 834-5301

Let us know here when you have made your reservation.

Can ya feel it. There's a buzz in the air... another GC is coming together. First Ever Fall Into End of Summer GC @ Ruby's Bryce Canyon. Formerly know as the place Barb Once Bought a Shower!

Woot....

I just got off the phone with Ruby's. We are now in amongst the mutantites. Site 119! If you call for reservations, don't talk to the person who answers the phone. They don't know how to do group reservations. Ask to speak with the person who does the groups. I feel better now. We even went ahead and reserved a couple days in advance so we can get our breathing under control before you arrive.

Ugh, how annoying.

We are trying to find a Houston area Ford dealer to check our RV coolant system. NONE of them will take an RV, not even the commercial truck Ford dealerships.

I need a bump on the ole' blood pressure meds. Is it 5 o'clock yet???
OMG. Houston is the 4th largest city in the country and there isn't a Ford dealer in the area that will check you RV's coolant system?!!! Do you have to go to New Orleans? Austin? DFW? Or freakin' Dearborn?
Good grief. What a nightmare. This is like a horror movie!
Ommmmms to y'all.

And shame on Ford.

Maybe I ought to call and be sure we were stuck with the mutants!

I wish! Nope. Today was drive day and went for Chinese food in town - as best I know the only one here. Food was good but didn't feel like a beer. Having a Pepsi and some Iowa Kettle Corn we picked up back in Amana. What life a eh...

Man, you got that right! Somebody tell God to please get over Blue Bell and dry up the crying already! We need some serious relief from all this water here in Texas.

Yep. What a life! We're so happy that you and Annie are so happy with FT RV life on the road. And, of course, a tad envious! But, you're our inspiration.
I keep changing our target month for "liftoff." First it was April '16, then it was March '16, now I'm thinking February '16. Tomorrow, it may be December '15! Except there is the little matter of a double knee replacement. That might have some bearing on when we take off. (Barb thinks I ought to do my recovery and rehab in Bow. Shoot, just get it over with, get in the coach and GO.)

Anyway, it's fun to read about your travels and all the fun and interesting people and places you come across. You are carrying the Mutant banner proudly across the land and who knows? You're such a Pied Piper of Mutantville, I bet you'll inspire hundreds to join the band of Merry Mutants and follow the rainbow. It's all good.
