Ok , maybe I'm being a little negative here but if AR is Arkansas, and the get together is around April 20th, is that not Tornado season in Tornado Alley? It just seems like every Spring I see people on TV sitting outside their destroyed trailer saying "they lost everything"?
Am I missing something?

For those of you still pondering... AK is Alaska... I ain't going for a curiosity there in April. too chilly....
AZ is Arizona... bit too hot in april for a curiosity perhaps...that leaves...
AR which is Arkansas which ought to be just right for a curiosity weatherwise... maybe even a bonfire at night for an hour or 2 and s'mores. Yeah, Just call me goldilocks....
Arkansas is not one of the places twisters happen very often.

Tornado Climatology
I believe the area chosen is 1- 2 /year... not bad.

I just checked - you're 400 miles from Tucson - you may win the RVM Winter 14 Curiosity distinction - somewhere down those parts?

Well, we have been in Tucson many times visiting our nephew who was stationed there at the base. We sorta dropped off on the visits when he was reassigned to Korea. I would also say Phoenix is a good winter haven we have used frequently.

Cool . Now I need to discuss possibilities with the DW.

One in particular is this. RVM35 mtnmankev - has throw in the towel on his restoration. He said there was too much rodent damage to wiring I believe to move forward. He indicated we could reassign his mutant number - but it was written long ago (ok, 4 or 5 months ago) that once a mutant, always a mutant. RVM 35 is now designated - Sidelined, which is a temporary state.
So for mtnmankev - this morning I send up the Oooommm Oooooommmm another Motorhome Oooommm for Kevin. (or RV type / class that will fit his mutation).
Another fine day on the rainbow - it may be a 2 week visit - but it's great to be home on the rainbow!
Fridge is doing as it should - all good in the mutanthood.

RVM35, in my pondering, any mobile mutant mobile should be acceptable. After all, my teenage mutant years revolved around my parents and their VW Camper Van. How do the other mutants feel?

Of course I rated the thread the day I evolved into RVM19... or close thereabouts.

Instead were chilling and putting the Splendide through it's paces. When it hits spin cycle - Sophie wiggles her feathers and I had to give Sparky a little talking to.

The DW and I had a great laugh over your post... when our Spledide takes off on its spin cycle it wiggles the lodge and everything in it. I can only imagine how excited that makes Sparky ..... .....
Cheers !!!

Having lived in tornado alley my entire life up until I retired 2.5 years ago, I can tell you that tornado season is no reason to change any plans. The best thing about tornadic weather is that it is easy to spot, has LOTS of people watching it for us and there are places you can go to be safe.
What I don't get is people who buy property and live in earthquake zones. There is no warning and no good place on earth to go to be safe. And don't get me started about hurricanes! Give me an EF-3 over one of them anyway.

X2 !!!! we lived in Michigan a long time and even though its not in tornado ally there have been enough to let us know what they are like, and there is a bit of warning time. We use WeatherBug and it is very informative and even sends us alerts about the areas we are in, we just need to remember to keep our smart phones close so we know when we are alerted. But I think we should be alright for April.
Cheers !!!!

Dave have no fear .......April is generally too early for tornado weather cause it is still to cool. Yes there have been tornadoes further south in OK or Tx but even then it's rare. Lived in tornado alley all my life..... It will be fantastic weather...warm days...cool nites.

Well I must respond to this tornado thing, wont happen! Lived here, and near CL all my life, seen the devastation left by a few tornados and even pulled to side of road to watch a funnel hop the highway before. The key things with tornados, and this is proven by all the interviews shown on the news, is tornados seek out those that 1 don't have all their teeth 2 don't have regular body hygiene 3 and can't put more than three words in a sentence.
I feel pretty confident we don't have anyone that fits that description.

Now. Now. No need to disparage or trade in generalities. They can happen almost anywhere to anyone at any time. Weather patterns are changing and conditions and front patterns are too. Risks are everywhere and staying alert is the key to longevity.
Mutants are lerts.

Ok, so some of us my not have all our teeth, we could be in trouble.
Will tell you what I've done when caught in my 5er and thunderstorm rolled in unexpectedly, hail had started, blocking my retreat to the concrete restrooms. I set quietly at dinning table, DW stands with back up against fridge with arms spread out to both sides. I suggest she go ahead and set down, if table I'm setting at goes, so will the frige!
