Okay Your Roundness I saw that! Just cause I ain't talkin much don't mean I don't have my one good eye on you!
Well it's bout time to report in to you muteys. On our way back from Brenham last weekend we had been driving for almost an hour when I hear and feel a loud thump in the rear of the coach and about the time my eyes glance to the rear view camera my Jeepy starts swerving back and forth trying to drag the coach with it. I was doing bout 50 mph and started shutting it down when Jeepy tried to jump in the back of Jenny. Scared the crap outta me! I get stopped and go back to find the drivers side tow bar on the ground with the toe hook still attached but bent like a pretzel. The one remaining tow bar is bent badly too and the hitch shoved into the grill of the jeep. Jeep is leaking tranny fluid apparently from the cooler up under the radiator. I have to start the Jeep and back it off the hitch so I can disconnect everything. Four hours later the Jeep is towed 97 miles to Waco to a Jeep dealer and I still don't know how that tow bar came off the drivers side of the car. Blue Ox had no explanation either after I sent them the pics I had taken. Sooooo, $3800 worth of damage to the jeep, and I have to purchase another tow bar and base plate which should come in around $1300 plus install and I still have to have the tow hitch on Jenny inspected cause it appears a welded support is broken as well. This summer isn't starting out too well for the #31's. Somehow I have to get it all back together before we leave in about three weeks!
Ya'll have a blessed day on the rainbow! I'll be checkin in from time to time.

Herb ... did Blue Ox ask for the tow bar and base plate so they could analyze it? Many times they do. If they discover a flaw, you get new stuff free.

Well RVM2, just hanging here in the heat at present. It will be at least a couple of weeks before we can make our "escape" and pull the "sunbird" act by heading north into the cooler country. I put off my annual oil change and service on the old beast and am now regretting it. It's gonna be HOT now to pull some maintenance before heading out. Oh well, sure beats paying somebody else to do it
Plans are to head for some high country in NM and hopefully spend some quality time in some forest svc CG's. I know there's some great country throughout NM, and we aim to see some of it. We're some of the world's worst tourists, but are world class "relaxers"!

All they asked for was the pics I took. That pin was securely locked in place when I left cause I always check it as a part of my pretrip inspection so I can't figure out how it got out of there. Thank God for the safety cable that held it to the coach.

Will do Steve. The insurance adjuster examined the car damage so hopefully they get the green light on Monday to start the repairs. As soon as I get it back I will have the base plate to examine too cause Blue Ox has asked for pics of it as well. Maybe they will come thru with some adjustments to our favor!

I really glad you two are fine.
Are you buying another Blue Ox? Just curious, as we are about to buy the same type of towing system.

Yes, there was a nice wind coming off the sound. If I stayed out of the sun it was quite pleasant even when the temps got up to 84* this afternoon. I had to run to Home Depot and every other customer had either a fan or air conditioner in tow. These folks up here aren't used to hot weather.
Be careful when you get to Texas! The heat can be a killer.

Yep we have had a lot of safe towing miles with the Blue Ox system so I will replace it with another. Hopefully the base plate will provide some answers as to why it came uncoupled.
