Well it's bout time to report in to you muteys. On our way back from Brenham last weekend we had been driving for almost an hour when I hear and feel a loud thump in the rear of the coach and about the time my eyes glance to the rear view camera my Jeepy starts swerving back and forth trying to drag the coach with it. I was doing bout 50 mph and started shutting it down when Jeepy tried to jump in the back of Jenny. Scared the crap outta me! I get stopped and go back to find the drivers side tow bar on the ground with the toe hook still attached but bent like a pretzel. The one remaining tow bar is bent badly too and the hitch shoved into the grill of the jeep. Jeep is leaking tranny fluid apparently from the cooler up under the radiator. I have to start the Jeep and back it off the hitch so I can disconnect everything. Four hours later the Jeep is towed 97 miles to Waco to a Jeep dealer and I still don't know how that tow bar came off the drivers side of the car. Blue Ox had no explanation either after I sent them the pics I had taken. Sooooo, $3800 worth of damage to the jeep, and I have to purchase another tow bar and base plate which should come in around $1300 plus install and I still have to have the tow hitch on Jenny inspected cause it appears a welded support is broken as well. This summer isn't starting out too well for the #31's. Somehow I have to get it all back together before we leave in about three weeks!

Ya'll have a blessed day on the rainbow! I'll be checkin in from time to time.

Very scary Herb! So the tow bar came unhooked from one side where it connects to the baseplate? I once forgot to connect one side, but caught it the first time I turned the opposite direction. Luckily I was only doing about 15 mph.

I don't know about Blue Ox, but the connectors to the Demco baseplate are so beefy there is no way it could come loose if the pin doesn't come out first.

I'm glad you and Barb didn't get hurt!

We will be in Seattle for a meeting with Costco so how close is that? Usins would love a mini with youins and Barb when we get there. I would like to go to Victoria if time permits.

Believe it or not so are the connectors on the Ox. I just can't figure how it got pulled out and bent about 45 degrees. Maybe that happened when it hit the pavement cause we were doing about 50 mph.

Herb and Barb so glad you're ok. I have about 6k on our tow bar but it only cost 75 bucks from harbor freight + 40 buck in chains. No base plate just bolts to the bumper. But I'm cheap like that. Lol

So very sad to hear that happened to you. I hope someone can find the root cause and let the rest of us know. That is one scary situation. Glad you both are safe.

ICU! (Like in I see you also.)

Be careful when you get to Texas! The heat can be a killer.

Stay in the cool breeze Barb. We seem to be getting a taste of that now. It's 99 right now in ID but was 114 for the high. We will be careful. I even bought s hat before I left. Dad wanted to make sure I had shade.

When Herb? Are you driving Jenny up or flying into town? Email or PM me some details, please. What can I do to make your stay here more fun? This is exciting! My first PNW mini-C! Maybe we can make it a midi-C if the timing works for some other STMs.
