And bat poop, aka guano, is excellent organic fertilizer. With each bat eating 500+ flying insects each night, I'd put out the bats welcome mat, Tim.

Better bats in your barn than bats in your belfry.

I'm with Dave... get yourself some bat houses and put it where the guano won't be a problem then use the guano on your veggie bed!

West Nile Virus is a big thing around here right now. Local health department puts out mosquito traps then counts the ones that have the virus. Reports are popping up all over the place about the discovery of the virus. I'm wondering how bats figure into the scenario. Does a bat get WNV from eating mosquitoes then become a carrier too?

Along about dusk, we see bats swooping around. Presumably they are feeding on flying insects. Trouble is, the mosquito population is enormous this year. Bats are over worked.

A few years ago I found drawings for bat boxes. Built a few. Set them out according to instructions. Squirrels loved the new housing!! Sort of cramped, but for free they didn't crab. Then I made a couple of bird houses. Yep, squirrels again.

I'd like to set up a barter system ... will trade one squirrel for four bats. Exchange rate may vary depending on local mosquito population.

I have 80acres of hardwoods behind my house. The squirrels stay out there unless someone gets to hunting them, then that pushes them up to the house. When they get too numerous around the house I squirrel hunt with my 22 from the back deck! The bats might be good practice for dove season ! Their quick!

Scared the bejeezus outta me

It was stormy & windy, so what does a reasonable person do? GO OUT ON THE LAKE WITH A JET SKI. (not) He took a spill at 50 mph, landed on his back, & is walking around like an old man. Says maybe (?) he needs to go to the chiropractor. LOL

Thanks to everyone who called, texted & worried. I was worried. But he's fine, we did FaceTime tonight. And, I'm going to give him a good talking to when I get back to Kansas.

Such a joy to spend time with Steve & Annie. We ate out twice today, did a little gambling & looked for RV resorts. Wish I could stay in Vegas till they leave, so we could have more fun. I'm here two more days, so we are not done.

How do you people do those posts with multiple quotes & add multiple replies? I want to do that & can't figure it out......

Wayne, I will pass along your info to the Donald.

Night everyone!
Another case of "Hold Me Beer and Watch dis!"

Never try to get to the last dirty section of your eves-trough from a 6' step ladder. And, being I was alone, I didn't even get to say "Here, hold me beer and watch dis!"
