Coyote scare today

I was in the RV reading when I heard Sena doing her danger dance, but having seen the neighbor's big scary black dogs earlier, I assumed there was no cause for concern.

Then I hear Lily barking, again no cause for concern. Then I hear my friend Arlene, yelling "Lily", in panic mode. This time I reacted. Of course by the time I got out, the situation was safe. Sena had retreated to the RV roof and Lily was in Arlene's arms.

At 4:15 today a coyote came out of the woods and within 50 feet of the house. Lily was less than 3 feet from it, according to Arlene. Lily is not very bright, but is highly motivated to protect Sena and me.

The crisis was averted, but the sad thing is Lily has lost the freedom to roam. Several times daily she would make her rounds over to the boat dock, then down to the beach to run thru the edge of the water, then around to the back of the house and then back to find me. Now she'll have to stay on a leash and I can't walk that far -- or as fast as she would like to go. Stupid coyotes ruined everything.

Anyone know where I can buy coyote repellant?

Waiting an hour is actually good news. That means they don't think it's fatal. I hope you get seen soon and the most painful part is the bill.

Breed, I know your pain. Hard to get out in the woods when it's still hot. All the critters are still out. Keep the faith brother, cool weather is coming.

Dogpatch, you the man, thanks to all in your responses to my picture posting problem. You may regret helping me, I have hundreds of pics from this summer alone!

Glad everyone safe. Certainly keep an eye out, O Wyllie Coyote may be back, depending on how hungry he/she is. Might listen at dusk for the how of young pups.

300 win mag, 30-06, 308, 30-30, 40 S&W, 357, 38 special, 12 gauge even poisoned meat treats, in Michigan coyotes are in season all year long, and excellent target practice. I dont like killing things just to kill them. Usually what I kill goes to the dinner table, but coyotes are varmints and just plain all around bad.

I am happy all are safe and all toes and fingers are accounted for as well, keep your eyes peeled.

Lost Maples State Natural Area was the journey. It's too early in the year for any color and been so dry the maples are a little stressed. It's a great park with 30 or so sites with electric and water and a nearby dump. Both sites and dump would be tight for us at 38' and we didn't look into maximums etc. The place fills up when the colors change and the hiking trails stay busy. The restrooms and showers were clean and well kept. Today there were 3 folks camped there. Just them, the deer and the road runners. Caught a roadrunner on my camera but the laptop is stowed for travel tomorrow. Will post him when we get settled again.

They journey is coming to a close all too quickly. Well there's always next one!!

Hi Steve,

Sorry to hear your road trip is coming to an end. But let me reassure you if you are within 12 months of being retired, you will be absolutely amazed at how fast the time will go. Just keep looking forward, and dont stop planning.

Any chance of a closer up shot of the steam locomotive?

One of my uncles had a big (~15-20) collection of miniature steem engines. Wasn't smart enough (16) to ask for them at the time he died. Actually don't know where I would put them if I had them. Took up most of his basement.

All the black smoke rained down black cinders on everything so I didn't stand and take many up close pics. Here are a few.
