I've been lurking on this thread since it started. Now it's time to stand up and say in a loud clear voice "Hi, I'm Bruce and I'm an RV Mutant". At least I think we (DW and I) qualify. We bought or first MH about 3 years ago and did several shorts trips, working up to a 3 month jaunt up the east coast from the Florida Keys to Quebec. When we got back to our 2,500 square feet house we looked around and realization dawned: "We don't need any of this!" . Within 6 months the house was on the market, we packed just what we thought we needed into the MH, accumulated a stack of Goodwill receipts an inch thick, and put what was left in a storage pod. We have been full time since January 2012 and we miss the stick&brick not one bit. We have everything we need with us, what we don't have we do without or improvise. Does this qualify us to join the club? Please? Pretty please?

Welcome to the club RVM24 - Bruce and DW! You also earn extra points for following along since post 1 - a mutant for sure. Congrats on making the leap to FT. I know just what ya mean - Every time I park er and enter the homestead the longing for less and the ache for the journey kicks in immediately.

Looking forward to hearing more about how you make the journey your destination and the improve tips you might share.

Before I forget, DW's name is Mary Lou. Our journey is evolving as we go. Originally we were happy to just move from place to place, like the 3 month east coast trip, and then last year a 9 month 9,500 mile loop from Raleigh NC to Los Angeles then up the Pacific Coast Highway to Washington state, then back to Raleigh through northern and mid west states. We actually started to feel not bored, but maybe unfulfilled, like there was something we were missing about the FT lifestyle. During our big loop, we stopped at a National Wildlife Refuge in New Mexico which is home in the winter to tens of thousands of snow geese and sandhill cranes. Being keen photographers and birders we'd been there before. We got chatting to one of the volunteers who works there, and our ears pricked up at the mention of free campsites with utilities in exchange for 24 hours work a week. We filled out applications and were more than a little surprised when the Ranger interviewed us on the spot. Upshot is that we spent 4 months there volunteering this past winter. We enjoyed it so much that we are now doing the same thing at a NWR in Oregon for the summer and have been accepted at a NWR is South Carolina for the coming winter. We also have assignments penciled in up through the end of 2014! I think its safe to say we have found our version of the journey. We are really enjoying being parked for 3 or 4 months at a time, then traveling for a month or so, then settling in for the next assignment.

Hey, I noticed RVM17 recruiting over on another thread. Are we having a membership drive?

I never recruit. I will call myself an RV Mutant on some threads, and often sign them as...
Dave and Nola
RVM1

If I was recruiting I would be handing out T-shirts with our logo, with Sena being the irresistable hook!

We are always looking for new RVMs. Many out there but don't realize it yet. Btw - speaking of other threads - I commented on you awesome RVMabode on your thread.

Ok - anyone reading for the first time - if your RV doesn't have some things - but you don't miss them - tell us one or two and become RVM25. For RVMs the journey is the destination. If you're really interested, go back and read the first post - and more if ya like. The RVM life is a great life. Join the group. Claim you rightful position among the RVMs!!

RVM Alert - rumor has it RVM1 now has a heat pump - but I think he came by it in accordance with the yet to be written RVM Bylaws.
RVM2

Note: I don't recruit on other threads either.

No rumor. FACT!
But I was trapped.
My rear heat duct could either fixed by tearing up the floor and cutting in from below, OR by swapping the rear A/C for a heat pump.
I qualified for the latter only because they so heavily favor folks that have Wrangler toads.
I did not recruit while here in Elkhart. But I did steer some folks to iRV2, and accidentally let it slip that searching on "Mutant" was really neat, to which they said "what", which is when I changed the subject to bacon.

Ah yes, bacon. That which will render most into thinking only of the smell, taste and massive consumption of such. I hear that it is actually a building block of the "Y" chromosome.

RVM24 - Love your avatar. Guess I will need to think about individually printing them up with RVM Number on them! On the list along with the RVM Official T-Shirt.
