Dennis - I can't quite read the words under "Police" but I think it says "Are Looking for Me".

If'n you are in a hurry, yep, but if you can take your time, the 1, or 101 when they combine is much more scenic.

Two years aboard AGC-11 as Ship's Company (USMC) so I know about Shellback sailors.

I will spare you the details.

Started north of Eureka, CA on US 101

Followed to State Road 20 and headed west to Ft.Bragg

At Ft. Bragg turned south on CA 1

Stayed on it until State Road 116 and turned east

Sitting in Petaluma, CA for 4 nights (Napa and San Fran trips)

IF you have ridden this route in a car, imagine doing it in a 40' MH w/ tow. A road wide enough for 1 4/5 MHs, switchbacks 5 to the mile, cliffs 1/2 the time with no guard rails. Feared meeting some "middle-of-the-roader" coming around one of the blind curves. White knuckles galore.

I don't think we were supposed to be on that section of road in a MH.

Made the short ride from Port Hueneme to Camp Pendleton South, Del Mar Beach Resort and we did it different. We took Highway 1 to Santa Monica, then the 10, 405, and 5. We had some stop and go traffic around Santa Monica and I was expecting worse traffic on the other highways but it didn't happen. Smooth sailing. However, the 5 Northwas backed up for 20 miles. No kidding, 20 miles.

Nice to see GD's again.

You would have a mountain pass at the Oregon/California border that could have snow. We've encountered it when in our car.

Jan of 2014 we traveled from Kennewick WA through OR, ID, UT (I-84) following I-15 to Vegas and then on to Yuma AZ. We had snow off the sides of the road in Northern UT but none on the roads themselves except for a bad snowstorm in OR near Baker City.

There is really no answer because it will just depend on the weather. If you keep a close watch on it, you could always hold up a few days until the passes are cleared. Then again, you may make it right on thru without any problem which ever way you go.

Sorry that is not much help.

I've driven quite a bit of PCH amd 101 over the years in various cars. Doing it the motorhome with or w/o toad isn't on my to do list.

Next time ya get us some aged firewood - the rest of the story!

Thanks,
I could do the 1 101 route and then 10 but I would like to get Denise to see things she hasn't seen with me around. She did the Amtrak thing down the left coast and we want to try a little further inland.
