Sarah,

Les isn't ready to sell it yet. I suspect there is a paint job in the near future.

A few of us in the spinners and weavers guild also do artwork on and with gourds. The workshop is for other members who are interested. My 2 specialties are 1) fusing dyed silk fiber onto the surface of a gourd and 2) using colored pencils for "painting" images onto the surface or onto small shards. Others use dyes or weave basketry rims or do woodburning.

Decorated shards can become pieces of jewelry, cut long-necked gourds can become beautiful spoons or dippers, canteen gourds can become purses or boxes. The list is endless. My goal is to help folks learn a few basics and give them some ideas for future exploration.

It's really a playday. Might be fun at a GC. (Nola aka Mrs. Poobah knows something about dyeing and beading on them already. Right, oh grandest of Poobahs? Pictures?)

Interested, Sarah?
Definitely sounds like fun, Sue. I have seen some beautifully decorated gourds.

So the tech is coming for us at 7, right? AM, that is.

So Martin sets a phone alarm for 6, right?

At 3:30, my phone ding-dings with a text from my son, who thinks we are still in England, 6 hours out.

At 6:48, Martin wakes up & wakes me, right? We have 12 minutes till a knock on the door and we are to be ready to decamp, right?

More later!

Throw on clothes, throw things in bags, never mind first cuppa, don't forget the fridge....throw bags out the door, throw em into the Jeep. There!

Tech comes to the door, wants to know who we are. Do we have an appointment. How do we spell our name. Ummmm....? He can't find paperwork for us.

?????

He goes off, and returns with paperwork, while my nerves mark time jangling. Well yes, by golly, we do have an appointment, what a surprise!

I get in a half mile walk while Martin & the tech go through the list, then he has to go in & verify the insurance.

I'll knit while I wait, I think, and that's when I discover that in the morning's rush I've ripped a piece of knitting off the needle.

TBC.

Oh the humanity.
RV ownership is not for the faint of heart. The lesson here, as I see it... don't blow a screw when things happen. Keep Calm and Mutate On...

It would be very easy to loose it when a tech says - hey, do you have an appointment etc. We mutants learn to laugh at such baiting!

We have come to view Bonita as a family member. We are dedicated to her, and she to us. When things go wrong, just like a child or other family member, we pony up and throw our support and love and resources into making things right. It isn't always easy and often trying, but our rainbow riders are a part of us. They make us laugh and cry and enrich our lives.

And that's all I have to say about that, except.... Bella will be as good as new before ya know it and we'll see you in Az!

PS. We miss youse...

Aaarrrgh! Beginners like me have near panic attacks over knitting mishaps. The baby blanket I'm working on with a timeline(due beginning of Jan. which sounds so far away, but looms closer each time I have to undo a section and fix boo boos) had to have a whole color stripe removed and redone. That's what happens when I try to knit and gab at the same time...you'd think i'd learn...
