Woot woot, got my call back from Debra at Timberland in ME. Seems dis spite what others have said about me my reservation for the M&MGC was approved. No site number was assigned as they felt I might be a good buffer between the mutant crowd and as they said, normal RVers.

Ok you mutants looking to make a lobstah feast, make the reservations now so we get grouped together.

Dwayne, that nurse needs to be reported to the hospital's nursing supervisor or whatever they call the top nurse in the hospital. Also you have the right to demand that that nurse isn't assigned to Shara again. There is NO EXCUSE for any patient to be treated that way.

Tell Shara we are all sending GIANT OHMMMS her way.

Send $10 to each RV Mutant. We will buy the lottery tickets all over the country for you. The winner will send you your ticket - you deal with the taxes and such, and reward as you see fit.

In WWI & II and Korea it was called Shell Shocked or Battle Fatigue. Many never recovered. Many died in asylums.
My Bros out from Nam were the same but worse. Many came back with PTSD and drug addiction and the Agent Orange stuff. I lost Bros in VN and after it. A forgotten generation. Many offed themselves.
Just sayin.

yes, somehow when they post the number of folks who died in battle, it never seems to count those ones... I suspect the human costs of wars are a far larger # of lives lost in the end.

Probably, a much too deep of a ponder to be voicing publicly, but well, there it is.

Sorry for such dark ponders in what is supposed to be a holiday time, but my mind runs that way, and I desire understanding, and wish for a way to help.

Marty, many of us have varying degrees of PTSD (Shell shock, battle fatigue, etc.) and it didn't help any that the homecoming had to be in secret or else the protesters rants and chants just added to the confused mind. In Vietnam, like Afghanistan, there were no "front" lines. The "enemy" was every where. If you were there, you were in it. Rocket attacks, mortar attacks, artillery attacks, ground incursions, you name it, we were in it. The individual mind can be affected in many ways, and sometimes it does not occur until years later. Anything can trigger it. PTSD is not only for the military. The T stands for Traumatic. Figure how many traumas there are in the world and anyone of them can affect an individual mind. Some can cope with it, some need medicine to help especially with the depression that accompanies it. Some have violent reactions, sometimes in their sleep and sometimes when they are awake. Some cannot cope with it and take an avenue of what they believe is escape. When we are together some time, talk to me about it. If you know of someone suffering, encourage them to seek help or talk to someone.

For anyone else that suffers from that disease, seek help. Talk to someone else who has been there and is going through it. It really helps when the person you are speaking with understands what you are going through.

p.s., The WWI, WWII and Korean veterans and doctors were not of the understanding of PTSD. It was Shell Shock or Battle Fatigue. Sometimes they gave the a few days rest, then sent them into battle again. The real violent outbursts were "section 8" out of service with not much of a looking after. The thought of the day that the manifestation would work its way back to normalcy. I feel for those soldiers.

Thanks Wayne, Yes, I know what it is. Folks with different sorts of abuse that came their way sometimes suffer from it too. I do wanna talk about it sometime/where down the rainbow with ya... I didn't mean to bring the thread down... I suspect I have a hard time around the holidays because I tend to feel other peoples feelings, and I've been in contact with a lot of people lately who have a hard time during the holidays, and am trying to sort my own feelings out vs. those which are someone else's that I may be feeling. perhaps the solution is to surround myself with happier folks.... but then I still feel bad for the folks who have a hard time... and somehow it doesn't seem right to go on partying about life-- like they aren't out there miserable. I suppose I should go to mass or something and lay my troubles ( and theirs) down.

On a brighter note... I got a little further on the decorating today! (and even asked Bob what holiday treats he wants me to make for him this year!)

Marty.... While i do not have PTSD, i do deal with depression, not bad, but am on meds....

Never have liked this season, stems from teen years and a demanding sister, being bullied into not establishing my own family traditions, and more recently not being able to be with my own sons.... One of the 4, my sons and dils are almost always on call.....
It in no way has anything to do with my religious beliefs, and so all the commercialism just adds to it.
My best way to cope with this is talking.... Which helped me figure out the roots...
And more importantly is seing the ones who can party and enjoy it... It encourages me... So partying about life is a good thing in my mind..... And this group helps me...... But my best gift was finding my DH...
