Mutants headed for our gathering in AZ at Dead Horse Ranch State Park in April need to know that as of January 1, 2016 your pull vehicle or your towed vehicle will count as an extra vehicle (that's extra money per night). So you might want to reserve now even if you end up cancelling this coming Spring.

BTW, I'm signed up for Lot 107 in Cooper Hawk loop. Woot woot

FOR MUTANTS HEADED TO TUCSON OR PONDERING TO DO THE SAME: The campground is Pima County Fairground RV Park.(520-762-9100 X1026), The dates are February 1 - 7, 2016. Tell em you're a RV mutant. You will not be guaranteed a site but you have a 95% chance of getting one somewhere inside the park. (This is too complicated to explain again. In short, they don't take reservations, they just make lists of future campers w/ dates.

In this vented, enclosed tent patio lies a lit propane fire ring and the jacket wearing snow birds. I on the other hand am in my usual uniform. Pants, t-shirt, an unbottoned flannel shirt and my tennie. The grill is heating up, the crab legs and claws have been picked clean of their meat, and the steaks ready to go.

15 mutants are guaranteed a site in a 15 site cluster at Pima County Park. You are one of the 15.

During the organizational phase of the First Ever South West Mutant Gathering I was diligent in explaining the "weird workings" of the RV Park at Pima County Fairgrounds. Everyone, including me, have never experienced a "first come - first served" entry system into a 260 site campground. They have their reasons, I'm sure, but the system doesn't work for someone driving from Florida or Connecticut to show up and find out they don't have a site. Our guarantee for 15 reserved sites was the result of a special meeting of the park board to see if it was going to happen. For that I am thankful.

Mutants who were not in the first 15 to fully commit will have to show up and find out if they have a site somewhere in the park. Not good but we had no hope of gathering anywhere else in the state of AZ where the population of the state swells by 30+ percent each winter.

And you worked them in the most mutant of fashion.

Dale, it might not be Elk or Moose, but it makes some mighty fine Jalapeņo Venison Summer Sausage! It's that time again!

Looks yummy! I am trying to find a good recipe for some breakfast sausage. We might have to get an attachment for our meat grinder to make sausage. Right now we are having someone else do the sausage even though we do the hamburger and steaks ourselves.

Yep... they are indeed. The low tonight is expected to be 29 degrees. Unseasonably cool, but the days really are nice. We've gotten acquainted with the town, but need to get out and about.
