I know! My bad. Just thought of that this morning, but haven't gone to the laptop to change it yet.

I won't tell Florence if you won't. I'd sure hate to start off on the wrong foot with her!

Is is possible that Ellie ate something that the birds tossed out that has caused liver issues?

Ohhmmmms from us!

Hi:

Good thought. If it was the Dalmatian, I'd bet on ingestion. We are so strict about where Ellie is and where she goes that we are certain she hasn't ingested something that could cause this. She is supervised 100% of the time, as we know how quickly puppies can get into things.

The vet said if she'd ingested something like xylitol or wild mushrooms we'd know it because she'd be having other symptoms. One of her liver enzymes is two and a half times above high normal, but Virginia Tech said if it was acute (meaning ingestion), it would be ten or fifteen times above normal. So there are three possibilities, one of which is benign, and two of which are lethal. We will do everything we can, keeping in mind quality of life issues. The biggest likelihood is an abnormal "shunt". If it's outside the liver, it's operable, but if it's in the liver there's no hope.

The poor baby is so unhappy.

There's no correlation, according to the vet. Her sternum is shorter than normal, but won't hurt her unless she is lifted wrong or it breaks off. The internal medicine doctor and surgeons at Virginia Tech said both are genetic, but not related and neither issues are common in Bostons. It seems we have an unusual little pup.

Well, when I upload them, they are upright. I don't know how to edit the pics after they're uploaded.

Elizabeth & Mary, we send many super-ohmmmmmssss to Ellie ... and to you, too. You must be beside yourselves with worry. So sorry Ellie is hurting. We hope to goodness that you will get good news from the Vet.

Hugs from Melanie & Kate!
