UT (or UTC, older ref) is what all time zones are based off of. It's the same as GMT.
The scientifically correct answer is that GMT is a time zone and UTC is a time standard.

My analogy: When in a time zone using local time it is based off of GMT and set to the UTC standard. No country uses UTC as a local time.

I hope these smart (no comment please) answers straightens up the clock confusion.

Re. GMT, how many of you can claim to have stood astride the Meridian at Greenwich with a foot in each hemisphere? It's quite a strange sensation. Somewhere, I've a pic to prove it.

Well.... I stood in Asia and Europe at the same time in Turkey....
But didnt make it to Greenwich when in UK.... Btw how do you say that city..... Green witch?

Yeah, Sena complains if I don't get enough water on them before wiping hers. Mostly we use baby wipes instead of TP. MUCH kinder to one's bum.
