Sweet little car. In 1969 I bought a fire engine red 1967 Firebird w/ 326. It was kinda "doggie" on the takeoff but from 60 - 90 mph it jumped out from under ya.

It was the car I was driving when I got my only speeding ticket. Going south on I75 south of Flint, Michigan I was going 90 in a pack of 6 cars. Guess who the trooper chose to pull over? That's right the youngster in the red Firebird.

I was stopped in that car going 105 mph and didn't get a ticket. On I69, in November of 1969, I was pulled over at 11:00 at night. I explained to the trooper that I was trying to get to the hospital in Ft. Wayne to say goodbye to my father before he died. He checked the condition of my 4 tires and said "Keep it to around 90 and I'll radio my fellow troopers you're coming. They shouldn't bother you". Sadly my arrival was too late to say goodbye.

Ok, here's an off-the-wall question for you big rig owners. Are there any states where you are required to pull over at a port of entry weigh station?

I never pulled off at one while driving Bow/Murphy and I haven't done so while driving our Allegro Bus. Just wondering if there are states that will require us to weigh? (BTW, I pulled into a CAT scale recently and she came in under GVWR by a comfortable margin.)

Condolences on the bad timing and congratulations on finding a trooper with a heart.

Gee Steve, what are those 3 blue things in the first pic? They look vaguely familiar but I know it's been many many years since I've seen any. I thought they were obsolete.

I had to pull off into weigh stations in Idaho and Oregon, but not to weigh. I had to get the kayak strapped to the top of Smarty for Zebra Mussels. Since the last place we got wet was the Great Salt Lake the yak passed.

At one time we used to strap one to the front end of Tinker and when we had a gas station attendant ask what the hell it was, we knew we were far enough south!
