^^^ On the subject of kraut... 2 things. Jackie does some magic with kraut and sausage.... Hail of GC!!
And this...

My first job as a kid was at a place Wayne might remember. I believe it is long gone. The Hafbrau Garden in Dickinson, Texas. I worked weekends in the Garden washing beer pitchers and mugs. Another of my duties was running tubs of sauerkraut from the giant walkin cooler that was part of the garden bar. This was a full sized walkin with shelf after shelf of nothing but house made kraut. The bus tubs you see in some restaurants were stacked and loaded with kraut. I'd open the door and the room would fog up and I'd be hit in the face with the best smelling kraut on the planet.

I worked Friday and Saturday night and the band played and people danced and I was in awe of adults having fun. I was young and my family didn't have that kind of fun.

The job didn't last long because I made friends with the regulars and they would give me beer as I ran around picking up empty steins and mugs and pitchers. My dad picked me up one night and we had a nice converaation on the way home. I believe we had a more serious discussion at home at that kitchen table. That's were serious things were discussed at our house. But apparently I thought it all funny so my dad said; go to bed. The next day it was like it never happened. Except I had to quit the job. But not before I saw Andre Previn and formally attired entarage and learned how to party.

We would like to visit a winery or two. AND I taught U.S. History and world history for 22 years and have the dialog for 132 war movies safely tucked away in my brain. I would like to spend hours in the Nimitz museum.

Mary Ann would like to explore watercoloring with you. She might be able to give some pointers to our DGD.

Steve.

Hofbrau House closed down sometime in the late 70's before we retired and settled down in the area.

Well getring older beats the alternative...

My FIL made it to 80 without health issues. I'm counting on this to improve my circumstance for some time. The reality is the polyps are likely to return. I know what to watch for now. So that's somethin...
