Last night's adventure

Ok, I'm gonna tell on myself again. I've been looking for a package that the seller says was delivered. It is some LED light bulbs that I bought off an overseas website at Possum's recommendation. They weren't in my PO Box, so at 5:30 last night I jump into the toad to see if they had been left inside the neighbor's gate as has happened before. It had been raining off and on all day and lots of leaves had fallen off the trees, but I didn't think anything about it.

Maybe I should explain that for all but the last 2.5 years I have always lived on flat land. Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, you know, prairie country. I am currently along the Columbia River in S Washington state. The only thing here flat is the water in the river.

So, anyway, I buzzed up the back way to get to the inside of the neighbor's gate. Only I got within 100 yards of the gate and my poor little Smart Car won't go forward. Too many wet leaves. Then it starts sliding BACKWARDS!! Yikes! There's a ravine behind me with a 50 ft drop into a small stream. My heart is pounding, the car is sliding, OMG!!! Sena and I are gonna die in the forest and no human knows where we are.

Suddenly, driver's Ed class in 1967 flashes into my head -- turn the front wheels toward the curb on hills. No curb, but turning the wheels as if there was a curb stopped our descent and I stomped on the brake and pulled up the emergency brake.

I was then able to call my friend's DH who came the other way in his truck. He wisely stopped on the other side of the gate and carefully made his way down to where we were. He made sure the car was secure, handed me a flashlight and advised me to be careful walking back down the steep driveway. He then went back to his truck, up the steeper part of the driveway.

Sena crawled down the back of my jacket and we slowly made our way down thru the same wet leaves that challenged the car's forward motion. All the way down I'm listening for any sound that might be one of the coyotes we've seen come from that direction recently. A twig hit me on the head, almost triggering a heart attack.

The house at the bottom of the driveway was a beautiful sight. I couldn't wait to get into the coach and crawl under the covers. And yes, this is the same steep driveway that flipped me out of the wheelchair 3 weeks ago. I will NEVER go that way again. Or else I fear I might not live to tell about it.

Hi Barb - so all's well that ends well - and glad you weren't hurt. So I guess we still don't know were those LEDs are.

I finally tracked them down today. They're in South Dakota. Sent to my billing address, not my mailing address. I am having them mailed to me. They aren't quite as cheap as planned.

Barb, Barb, Barb!

I must tell you that your stories of your experiences are artfully crafted and descriptive enough for me to perfectly see them. Scared the bajeebers outa me, and I hope they do not come back.

Glad all is okay, and I feel better that Sena had your back...so to speak. ;-)

Barb - on late night TV when you pay separate shipping and handing they double the offer. The products are usually made in China (what isn't) so maybe you'll get lucky again (as in not learning if the Smarty can drive out of the water like a FIAT).

Greetings fellow mutants. So much has transpired since last I checked in.
Prayers and Good thoughts out to Les and his Mother.
Barb, you seem to have adventures lurking to attack you whenever you go out the driveway! Is there another drive you can use?
I have spent countless hours trying to catch up here, and I believe I have accomplished this goal. However, since I've been cramming, I may be confused and not too accurate about who did what in which curiosity.
But this has definitely been an interesting read, did I read this right: Dave has a mini dog? which resides in his Kimona? or manbag? Too funny!

Feed Sena and put some weight on her so she can cause more traction on the tires, or you could gain.....NOT.

Glad all is well that ends well. Were you able to get the car today?

Martha, had almost forgotten about sending you the Lemon Drop melon seeds. Nobody else asked, so if you need some more, speak up. With the cooler weather, mine aren't getting any riper. Two are cantaloupe size and one is tennis ball size. I think I have a grape sized one hidden down there too. Haven't looked in a few days. From my limited experience, it looks like they only produce two fruits per vine. I'll see come spring. Now, if you had a heated greenhouse, April might be a reality.

Hey Tim:

I've been pondering - are we going to have name tags at the GC? With my short memory it would be nice - I hate asking someone their name when I was just told an hour ago.

Spell check?

If something is sent and a person receives it and
understands it, the mission is accomplished.

Don't need no stinking spell check.
Don't need to worry about small stuff.

Yeah! And it helps me remember who I am.

Could you make them with the name upside down so I don't have to stand on my head to see who I am, I can just look down?
