Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad
It runs from Garibaldi, OR to Rockaway, OR. About a 40 minute ride at slow speed, lots of crossings and a 20 minute stay in Rockaway, or you can catch it in the morning at 10 a.m. and catch the ride back at 4 p.m. if you want to stay in one place or the other, depending where you depart from.

Did you tell them you wanted the one that takes upright pictures?

I'd be glad to have a "dialogue" with any one other than by means of this forum. Oh, wait, dialogues are supposed to be two-way. Sorry, forget it.

You do have to get to the airport very early (6am) but it was worth it. The first part of the tour is the flight along the south rim and up to Page. (because the flight was overbooked, they found another pilot and we had our very own Cessna) At Page we all got on big Jeeps and were taken by Navajo guides to the Antelope slot canyon where we entered a truely amazing place. Afterwards, we were bussed down to the foot of the Lake Powell dam and boarded a large rubber raft to gently float down the Colorado River. At the halfway point we beached and enjoyed a splendid buffet lunch which had been set up for us. At Lee's ferry we got out to be bussed back to the lodge, stopping on the way of course at a large Indian trading post for some retail therapy.
It was a very long but really enjoyable day - one that we can certainly recommend.

Hope to meet up with you guys again some day.

Thank you so much Martin, your info has us thinking seriously, although 12 hours is not for timid. As we keep saying though ' we're only doing this once so let's do it right'
Are you guys moving yet or are you still at home? We're in Salt Lake City now, very interesting, especially the genealogy research.
Stay safe
Best to you both

I'll consider it, but ONLY if you and Wayne DON'T make out in my presence or even tell me about it.

I checked the mileage and it's a 3 hour trip thru scenic Oregon each way from Idanha. That would make for a really long day. Maybe it would be a better post GC activity rather than a day trip? I could detour thru there on my way back to Seattle.

The FAQ says that dogs are welcome in the open cars so I should be able to get Sena permission to join us.

I also killed a phone while attempting to get out of a kayak. Now I put my phone in one of these. The phone is still useable thru the plastic. Cheaper than the insurance deductible.

We will not be there so Dennis can simulate by looking in a mirror. Oh, I really don't think he could kiss something that ugly looking back at himself.

The train we were on had open cars and dogs are allowed in the open cars. I wish we had known before we took the train as we would have brough Miya along.

Don, just make sure you don't park where the rodents live. Two weeks ago, my ABS light came on & stayed on! So, off to Freightliner to take care of it under WARRANTY (still under a year of ownership). Low & behold, a mouse got into the basement & chewed the ABS wire. Replacement is not covered under Warranty nor is it covered under any Insurance policies. So, $2,500.00 out of pocket!!! 🤑

First day on the rode after the fix...the beast is purring just fine. Unfortunately, we lost one of our travel companions to a lightning strike! They don't know the damage YET but it sounds bad. Makes the hail damage look like nothing. SIGH!

Hmmm, that sure sounds like the place 2 sisters used to go to to talk about life... I read a book about a house cleaning system they wrote... from the early 80's called Sidetracked Home Executives...Peggy and Pam perhaps were their names...
Funny you were there and posted the train picture! I bet it is where they were from. kind of a cheesy book, but their system worked for me for several years... then I fell off the tracks, haven't ever hopped back on...LOL!

Wow... Just think, your troubles could have been providence protecting you from same fate! Bet you got off with less expense!
