Holy smokes!!! Is this a Mutantville RV park?!!???!

Howdy folks, I'm purdy new around these parts so I'll give y'uns a quick 'who-am-I'. I have an old 1970ish camper that has been camped in 4 times....never by me.

My mother and her 3 10ish year old nieces camped for 2 nights in the middle of the Ozarks. No water, no electric, no sewer. Then I loaned it to a neighbor who camped for 4 days with his wife and daughter at the chuckwagon races. Again, no electric, water, or sewer. And my brother and his new wife used it a couple times to camp by the lake.

My last camping trip was in my dad's Ford Expedition SUV in the middle of Southeast Montana bowhunting Pronghorn antelope. 6 days, 75 miles from town with no cell signal and only a little propane cook stove eating Ramen noodles and MREs. I slept in the back between my clothes/equipment and the big Coleman cooler. Which held my 8 frozen gallon jugs of water. I would take a gallon out each morning and set it on the front floorboard to thaw for drinking.

I'm going back in October this year...can't wait.

Welp, that's me...just a mutated, semi-educated, Arkansas hillbilly.

Well, hello there six-shooter. You sound pretty mutant, but there is a rigorous test you must pass to become an official mutant.... read the first couple of pages of this thread to get a head start, then come tell us a couple things and mutant #1 or#2 will bestow on you a mutant number!
I am curious though...if you have a usable camper, why don't you take it on your trip instead of sleeping in your vehicle?

He's from Arkansas for crying out loud. Ask Di & Larry, Tim & Mary, or Roman and Ann. They probably did the same thing until they go used to it.

Y'all didn't have a good time, didja?

You'll be heading for the tippy-top of the Mississippi this trip? Not Maine?

Sorry not to be here as you fly by, but we leave in the morning. Tonight we are ready (almost) & sleeping in the rig so as to leave as early as possible.

Each of the 2 cats has escaped once already, making us a bit concerned about the trip w/them. Betsy is easy to retrieve. All she wants is to graze a bit. Munch, munch.

Tikka, the newby, not so much. The AC noise scared her as I carried her toward the rig, so she disappeared into the shrubs immediately. Fortunately, she came back for comfort w/in 2 or 3 minutes. Whew. Her safety collar had let go when she jumped, and she isnt chipped yet.

Sleep well, mutants ... like the lion.

Hey SixShooter: welcome! I anxiously await your required declarations and the bestowal of the coveted number and the passing of mop & broom.

Night all!

That only makes sense, Wayne. Everyone knows that every Arkie is related to all other Arkies either by blood or marriage.

I have some relatives from the Missouri Ozarks and they would be offended by your post. All Arkies are also related to all the MO Okies. It's just one big feuding family.

I'm starting to wonder if there's something in the water down there that causes all this mutation, there seems to be quite an influx of mutants from that area

His profile says Marion, Arkansas..... That is dang sure Eastern Arkansas, and not considered a real hill billy....
We is flatlanders for sure, DELTA gold, river rats...... Marion is due north of West Memphis for those who are geographically unsure about this state. And yes i could propably find some one we both know in a 15 minute chat with him...... Cause my hometown was also on that great Mississippi River west bank.....

Hey..... Does anyone know anything about putting a chip in the motor for more power.... Larry had gotten one for the old rv, never used it, so he was gonna put in the Berk..... He has been looking all over the internet trying to get information.... So he finally went against his male instinct and sent a pm to someone on IRV2..... He didnt say who, but whoever, that person blew him off, told him to google it.......
Yea... Like he hadnt already..... This is why I hardly ever get in irv forum... I only check in here, where i know people....

He could post a more general question in the Class A forum. Then he'd get all the answers he'd ever dream of - there'd be those that would tell him it won't be compatible with the Berk, another group will say it is compatible, then there will be those that say why do you even need more power, enjoy the view as you slowly pass things, another group will tell him it'll ruin his engine, along with the group that will claim his warranty will be terminated when they see he did that, and finally there will be those that just contribute to the thread so they can "follow it".

I just don't see why either of you are hesitant to explore the benefits of the full site

Wow Carl. I didn't realize just how profound you can be. You called called that one. In fact, I think I have seen that exact thread. But I think it went off topic and was closed.

Thanks for the info...

I took only the truck because the camper wouldn't make it down the 'roads' they have there. I needed to be able to go over some big humps and across ditches that I didn't want to drag a trailer across.

oops....I didn't mention where I'm from, just a hop, skip, and a jump North of Heber Springs.

I moved to this dreadful place 4 years ago to work. I work about 1 mile West of the Memphis Airport. But, I'm trying to find that 'perfect career position' in western Montana, WY, or CO. As soon as I do, I'm outta here.

Marty is right - there are magic words to enter the RVMdom.

1. Tell us a thing or two the RV doesn't have and you don't miss (example: dishwasher, washer dryer, half bath ???)

2. And - Declare... the journey is the Destination.

With that - You too will be awarded a RVM # and the granted the keys to the RVMdom. And of course the broom, mop and dustpan as the newest member.

RVM142 is next up. It's your for the taking!

Knee deep in grandkids

Well fellow mutants I've been busy. Today, Thursday, is day 7 "entertaining" all 5 grandkids at our house while DD and SIL are off galivanting around Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge in celebration of their 20th anniversary.

Here's how laid back our week has been:
1) 3 meals a day (because they're accustomed to 3 meals a day) Cooking meals for seven is a real B . . . . after cooking for 2. BTW, $470 grocery bill in preparation for the arrival of the human bottomless pits. LOL
2) 3 trips taking 16 yo GD to work at Chick-fi-a
3) 3 trips to take 3 of the GS to cross country practice
4) 2 trips for baseball tryouts
5) 1 trip to open house at home school magnet school
6) 1 trip for play audition
7) 1 trip for swim/birthday party
8) 1 trip to GK's church
9) 8 trips to their house to care for 2 dogs (25 minutes one way)
10) 8+ trips to the neighborhood swimming pool

So time on this site has been limited.

We leave for lobstah land on the 9th of August.
