Bummer, sorry to hear that Barb. There's always someone in the crowd...geez. Wonder if they even know the differences between species. Although here in CT, that story of that woman who was attacked by a chimpanzee (or whatever it was, it was big) and did huge damage (I won't make folks sick hearing what happened) so I can see why searching the web may turn up horrible info.

That was an adult male chimpanzee and he bit off the woman's fingers and face. It is a tragic story of stupidity on the part of the chimp's owners. NOBODY should own a chimp, period. He was almost 150 pounds of testosterone. That's about 20 times Sena's size and she was fixed before reaching sexual maturity so that those nasty hormones wouldn't make her crazy.

Amazingly Conn passed some very reasonable primate laws after that incident. Rather than banning all non-human primates they limited private ownership to smaller breeds. I once owned some Pygmy Marmosets that were 4 ounces when fully grown.

Size, training and the breed's typical temperament are all important things to consider. Living with these wonderful creatures can be a joy or a nightmare. Sena has been a joy in my life -- most days.

I'm working on a plan to sit down with the neighbors and come to an agreement about us being here if I build a very sturdy outdoor enclosure next to the RV. I'll add a short tunnel from the back window to the outdoor cage so she can still go out to hunt bugs but won't be able to go next door.

Wish me luck!

I'm sorry this happened Barb. I don't see how anyone who met Sena would be afraid. I can understand that not everyone likes cats, dogs, etc. But it shouldn't require too much to satisfy them. You stay over there - we'll stay over here.

Curious - what are the laws there?

Looking forward to joining those who have met her. Have always loved animals all my life, (probably why I get chuckles from Wayne) just need to keep Bonnie & Clyde away from her. Clyde has never met another animal he likes other than Bonnie, and he's not too fond of her.

I think the neighbor lady is scared of animals. They seem to be the only family around here that doesn't have a dog and she never mentioned anything about having any animals when she was ranting at me. They became aware of her when they looked out the window and saw Sena on the fence between the 2 houses. Her hubby came over early the next day and started with, "my wife is concerned about the monkey harming one of the kids." No amount of reassurance from me was accepted and they declined my offer to meet Sena under more controlled circumstances.

What saddens me most is that their kids will learn fear and anger from this rather than the love that only animals can teach. 99.9% of the people we meet are fascinated by Sena and want to meet her.

I am praying for a geological solution to this issue -- namely something happens that forces them to move before June 2017. Maybe they'll win the lottery and move up to snob hill, have their house foreclosed on, or anything in between.
