Happy Thanksgiving to fellow Kanuckistanians. We'll be away and probably off line. Off to Victoria in the am.

No no no, I saw them clearly flying over the four lanes. And there was a good 50' center median they had to go over too. Believe me, I was impressed when I saw that. I guess the highway was just in their way.

Mac is that way too, he can certainly fly, look at videos of macaws, they're amazing flyers. But you think my buddy is going to waste all that energy trying to get up above the tree tops? Heck no, all the times he's tried when he was younger and really feisty, all it did was land him in a bunch of trees. So just like turkeys, he may get himself across a room or 100' across the back yard, but he's pooped by then and that's enough!

Now Boko, she's another story - she flies so well I swear she's a helicopter sometimes (turns around on a dime mid-flight). And she got loose that one time so she's permanently banned from being free outside. Has a blast inside but no more freedom outside for her, she knows what it's like way up above those tree tops

I've seen them glide across a canyon. They can put some distance between you and them when they want to. Have you ever seen them go to roost? It is hilarious!

We've had turkeys fly across the road here... but not very high up and were petrified we were going to hit them and get our windshield smashed on the Ford Ranger.

I saw a nature show on PBS once re: turkeys. They're one of the few species that mourn their dead. Some can even die of sorrow over a lost one (very odd stuff).

I've been to a couple rallies with Turkeys. Sometime they call themselves RV Mutants.
