How to see the lunar eclipse, New Year Comet and snow moon tonight
I say opposite because in August we'll watch RVMoon block out the sun. Tonight we'll see the earth partially shade the sunlight from hitting the moon. FYI to convert GMT to Central Standard Time subtract 6 hours.
So Sue, since we will probably lose this event to the mountains here is an animation I found. Maybe we can spot the comet.

To find out when this will happen where you are just delete Tucson in the above URL and type in the nearest large city.

I decided to take one last ride on my new trike before taking off the seat and the back wheel so I could figure out where to put the support that will allow me to carry it on the back of the Moho. Lily puts up a barking fuss if leave so I took her with me and warned my neighbor, Max, that I was leaving Sena on the Moho to play. The warning is so that he doesn't leave his door open so she goes in to steal.
I decided to ride down to the office to renew my permit --about 1.5 miles away. The ride there was easy, but on the way back a strong headwind blew up and that 1.5 miles became like 20. Needless to say I was gone longer than planned. Add in the 85 degree heat and 27% humidity and it was a long, long ride.
When I got back Sena was missing!!! Mommy guilt and panic were my first reactions. I jumped into the car and was headed to the next nearest neighbor's place when another neighbor about 1/4 mile away came driving up. Sena was in a tree down by her Moho.
So I drive down there and see her running across the desert in the direction of the office. I honked and called her name and she stopped and came towards the car and jumped thru the open window and unto my lap.
She was really hot and somewhat listless, but wouldn't drink any water. So I grabbed a towel and wet it and laid it over her. It's been about an hour now and she did drink once she cooled down a bit. She's also eaten some blueberries and whole wheat bread so I think she'll be ok.
Another lesson learned the scary way! I may never get over the guilt.

About 7 pm tonight I would have accepted any offer. I was sitting outside chatting with a friend. Sena kept slapping the window trying to get my attention. Thinking she wanted a light on inside the RV, I went in turned on a light and gave her some food. She threw the food on the counter so I went back outside. She then added screaming to the window slapping. Guess who won?
I am rarely outside after dark. She did not like me outside and refused to come out with me. I do know that monkeys in the wild always get to their safe place before dark -- that's when most of the predators come out. Although Sena has never seen a jungle, she has all of those jungle instincts. And I was breaking one of her cardinal rules. She has me very well trained.

Been pondering what a let down the Lunar eclipse was tonight since it was a Penumbral one, meaning, just a slight shading on the side of the moon, very slight. I should've read it more carefully before getting all excited
Second ponder is how nice the weather is looking for both travel to Tucson as well as the week of the GC. Getting really excited and birds seem to be fearing another ride in the car but once we start moving in the RV they'll be quite excited

I agree, most exciting part was when the spaceship passed by!
