We're going to try to fill the freezer with fish to grill or fry.. I really hope that happens!

So where you fishing? Walmart! Lol
I would bring catfish but after this weekend my supply will be gone.
Got a 30in masterbilt digital electric smoker today. Thinking I can squeeze it in bay somewhere. I'll try to learn how to use it before we head that way.
Thought of bringing a turkey but don't know if I can get it in freezer till we get there.

I feel like we got very lucky on this and Laurie and Jim didn't know what they had at the time. I'll find out more as we get into Oregon but I know the prices must be way up.

Steve,
Laurie and Jim had already booked the 3 astronomers prior to me contacting them. They knew about the eclipse, but maybe not have known how many crazy people would want to be there to view it. I don't think they thought about charging anything other than their normal rates. I didn't try to negotiate a price deal because I knew we were getting a real bargain.
I hope you enjoy spending 4 weeks there. This is not a fancy park and it may not live up to the standards of the resorts you typically stay at. There's no pool, but there is the river if you want a quick dip, but the water is likely very cold as it is mostly snow melt. You won't have air temperatures in the 100s everyday, either.

We should try to have as many different viewing methods as we can. Would you like to be our viewing coordinator?
We may have to drive out towards highway 22 to get a really good view. I'm not sure if the trees will be in our way our not. I'm sure the astronomers will be able to tell us.

Barb... that's my point for sure. Don't think anyone knew what this was going to grow into. At least not at the magnitude of a million people in Oregon.
I talked to Paul (Paul and Chirs) today and he suggests we come in heavy. One of the gas stations in John Day is bringing in 6 tankers to cover the week. Currently they're dealing with a group of "rainbow" people coming in now. I've run into them before. Try this....

We checked the area out pretty well before booking the extended stay. We've been comfortable with 200 mile round trip day trips for a while now. If we want to spend a night or 2 in a hotel day tripping it's nice to have good people like Laurie and Jim to leave Bonita with.

Good morning Richard and Tim!
Today I'm at the local Spartan shop getting M1 service done on the RV in preparation for the really big trip coming up! They're letting me w**k in the RV while it's being serviced.

I've never seen chevron clouds before. Low-flying clouds covered this up too fast to get another shot, & by the time all that went by, the chevrons had gone east & dissolved.
Sometimes ya win, sometimes ya wait in vain. 🙄
