I actually got a couple pics in sequence. Just noticed it too late. What's most interesting to me is how quickly it caught my eye... and that it's a Studebaker. There were quite a few of them at the annual car shows in Dallas. This one looked straight. Except I'm not sure about the badging and found this...

"There were some differences in the fins and the Silver Hawk was a coupe whereas the Golden Hawk was a pillarless hardtop. Although the Golden Hawk was discontinued in 1958, the Silver Hawk lived on, virtually unchanged, until 1961."

So there's that...

http://www.conceptcarz.com/vehicle/z...lver-Hawk.aspx

Pillarless hardtop... I need to think back... what did I have that was a pillarless hardtop. I don't remember anything except it leaked like a sieve.

Edit... got it... 1965 Galaxy 500. Wish I had it now.

I had several Fords and Chevy's with pillarless hardtops. I wish I had any one of them now. I did have fun though and it was a journey.

Oh yeah!!!
I had a 65 Malibu SS pillarless. Bought it in 74 for $400 with 70K miles, drove it to 175K. The drive train was still tops, but MN road salt had eaten the body to death. [emoji853]

Next September, we hope to attend a fam gathering in WI, and think a GC in the Yooper land would truly ROCK!
The Fall colors should be fabulous!!!
My suggestion is like Jeff's: Macinaw Mill Creek Camping!

What say, Mutants?

Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping in Mackinaw City, MI

I'm game, it's only 14 1/2 hours away

It'd be an hour less if I could go through Canada, but that isn't worth the hassle.

Would surely need to start making reservations early...

My "hardtop convertible" was a 1955 Oldsmobile. Great car. Joined the USMC and couldn't keep up the payments on the measly salary so dad sold it.

Carl, what is the problem going through Canada? Is it the birds?

Only 23 hours from here to Macinaw Mill Creek. That would be about 4 days for us.

Birds plus I have no passport. Not worth the effort for either

And if I had a passport it'd be that much easier for employer to send me to France which is something they keep trying to do! I have no desire to leave the USA, for any reason.

Mackinaw City Grand Curiosity

We're all in for Mackinaw City.

Some thoughts: 1) that area is slammed in July, August, and September, 2) early decisions to attend and making deposits early would be essential (by January 1), 3) everyone needs to watch the video on the website, 4) a multitude of day trips are available (see video), so organizing daily group meals would cause problems for these excursions, 5) the group pavilion would be wonderful if we're willing to park our MHs away from the water, 6) a couple of tentative dates - - Wed. Sept. 5 to leave on Thurs. Sept. 13 OR Mon. Aug.20 to leave on Tues. Aug. 28 2018.

I would be willing to make contact with the CG. Jeff and Marcia can do it if they wish.

Getting total agreement on this stuff is like herding cats, so chime in muteys. Let your voice be heard. August dates or September dates?? Meal plans??

Remember to view the video to see just how busy we will be (as couples or as small groups).

All of this may be a mute point after a phone call to the CG.

Not sure which video you mentioned, but I skipped through some 21-minute long video and here's my summary: BMW (bring more wallets )

Personally I think September would be nicer to go there. August just sounds hot/humid/buggy as heck. I also think Sept 5th is a bad day, it's 2 days after Labor Day and if people are heading there during the holiday that would be miserable and the park may be busy as folks may take that whole week off and stay there. I would suggest 9/10 till 9/18. And your dates seem like a day longer than usual, so I just followed suit...

R U an RV Mutant too?

On Yooping, I would love to see the Fall colors again! This says best usually into October.
http://www.uptravel.com/fall-color-reports-56/
And their rates drop progressively after Labor Day. They are open into mid October
