Need a male explanation here....this is the only group of males in general that I trust... so here is my question....DH is printing out photos of the grandson and putting them into all the Christmas cards we are sending. He doesn't do FB and thinks it is the devil and accuses me of playing on the seamy side of the web for being on FB. I think he is absurd for thinking that all those folks want a picture. Those who do know where to find those pictures on FB. I gave up my pursuit to get him to see reason here... the man is a near genius but I'm afraid a little lacking in the common sense dept. He would chafe at my sending pictures of his own kids to more than immediate relatives....what gives here?
OK...I do like babies... I am also not a scrooge...but I probably get more excited when someone shows me a picture of their baby cucumber than their grandbaby.

Been a computer guy since 1970. Have done most all that can be done on it.

FB came along. I joined. I share pictures and travel blog there with family and friends. Wonderful tool!!!! Never had a problem, but I have nothing to hide and share nothing anyone could gain from.

Some do not like nor trust FB. I respect their opinion. Sorry they miss so much though.

FB makes emails all but obsolete, as all of the best things are known and shared there. Today, personal emails are for recieving stuff labeled "FWD:" that are mostly not read, and for sending pictures to those that will not use FB.

Emails and FB and blogs all have stuff that deserves to be ignored. No matter where you go you gotta filter out the chaff.

I like babies and baby cucumbers. I do not like FB. I have an account - nothing on it - no pic - no post - nothing. I have 4 or 5 friends and if I could unfriend without actually unfriending them I would. So... As a man, I say do as he would do if the shoe were on the other foot. Smile and say, "That's nice dear. You're so thoughtful." To me, this falls into the "no harm no foul" category. Why chance a "misunderstanding" when there's no harm or foul?

I joined FB and quickly got tired of learning what certain people had for breakfast and every thought they have had in the day. If I want that I can turn on the TV news and listen to someone that likes the sound of their own voice.
I guess that puts me in the Husband camp. To each their own, not for me.

What's worse than that - I get an email notice of a timeline update and for several of my "friends" most of what I see is - so and so watered your garden - fed your fish - fertilized your fields. You have been gifted a ring - a pot of gold whatever. I tell those friends when I call them that if they stopped playing the games and called me once and while we'd be like real friends. Instead they are busy getting fake gifts from 6 degrees of separation Kevin Bacon with whom I am an equal friend. Only difference - they never met those other friends and I have know them for 30+ years.

Marty,

I thought I'd add my 2 cents, even though I lack the testosterone laced thinking that you are seeking. Send the baby's pic. Like Steve says, no harm. On FB -- I have a few pics of Sena posted on my page, but that's only because of a special request from a friend who wanted to show her to her friends.

I find FB difficult to navigate because I don't want to take the time to learn their words for things. I give up and quit vowing never to return. And some of the other junk online these days, like twitter, I'll agree with your DH is the work of some money grubbing demon. Too much information is being shared that either nobody cares about or that some day will come back to haunt the sender.

My Dear RV Mutants.

FACEBOOK has been adopted or dismissed by all of us.

In my opinion, this thread, for the most part, will fail to change that.

Moving right along, we are having sashimi and sushi tonight. :-)

Yep! Who cares. Real friends will send an email or make a phone call instead of one-liners.

My bumper stick on the old TOAD I had read:

FACEBOOK: Where pointless information
is shared with friends you don't know

One of the points I'll make on occasion when I ask someone why they didn't call, or drop by, or whatever when they say "I didn't have time." I tell them, "No, you didn't take the time." Big difference. Many, many instances of not having the time was just not taking the time. We all do it.

Packed and loaded, dinner out, ready to relax for the evening. It'll be an early call tomorrow! Snow's a-comin'!

Cheers!

Stop it awready!!! That's some yummy lookin' dinner there. Do I see wasabi flowers in the corners? Mmm! And I want the bento box, too. Is that a take-away?

Makes my Q ribs look anemic by comparison!

Cheers!
Sue, soon to be looking for Japanese food in sunny Naples!
