How’s that for a newbie sporting the lingo? . We had a lovely dinner prepared by Bev. The photo was taken by my DH who isn’t really into being photographed but we’ll get him at some point. So, my first PoP! It was a fun afternoon even when we did have to chase the sun and head to the windbreak when it wouldn’t stay out.

PS. Not sure the photo is posting - will try again when I have my computer up.

Ha! Look who's calling some one a "pot." Last time we were together you were opting for my title.

Another fine day with Sue and Martin. Went to Whitney Plantation and had a tour. Quite a history. On the way home Martin found Cajun Restaurant and we side tracked to it. Here is the PoP:

I just talked to Dennis and Irene. They got back on the road this morning and are about 450 miles from here. Their inverter is acting up again so they are spending the night in a truck stop since they can’t get the AC power to work. I hope to give them hugs on Sunday.

Yesterday, we headed out west to visit one of the plantation estates that are open to tourists. This one is the Whitney plantation which is also a monument to the slaves who worked here in the sugar cane industry. We took a 2 hour guided tour. The guide was quite passionate in describing the terrible lives these slaves endured. She spent a lot of time showing us walls of plaques with snippets of recollections and photos. At the start of the tour, we were each given a lanyard carrying a card showing an image of a slave child on one side and a brief history of the person on the other. In the " field of angels" were more walls of names of thousands of young children who had died there. Our guide encouraged us to go find a name whose birth date matched ours and remember that name. Mine was Celise, who died aged 3. At the end of the tour, we visited the master house which was much less impressive than what I had imagined. The guide told me the more palatial houses were nearer to New Orleans.

Here are some of the photos I took. The statues of the children are so moving. Try to read the civil code of Louisiana hanging in the museum.

I will not hold any bitterness to those that don't invite me.

I am very used to it..

Crappie?
Good crappie, or crappie crappie?

Those photos are wonderful. The statues do give it so much feeling - I can only imagine what it was being there.
