Actually if we could get those "While you were out, we wrecked your house," shows Irene would be very happy.

We can get our local channels in any state (indeed anywhere in the world) by using the DishAnywhere app on the Fire TV. It connects to the Dish Hopper at home which then 'Slings' the chosen channel to you over the internet. Another thing you can do with that app is set your hopper to record in the normal way and watch the recording later in your rig over the internet. AT&T once told me if you have signed up with their Direct TV service, you won't need any satellite equipment in your coach. You just get Direct TV NOW over the internet using their dedicated and totally unlimited plan for that service. I just didn't want to move away from Dish.

True!
I’m watching a cowboy movie on Grit via OTA, while Nola puts out a bunch of food I’m required to eat.
So, movie then eat, or eat then movie, or movie and eat at the same time?
I’ll wait for your opinions.

Well, Dennis and Irene don't have a sticks and bricks to sling from. Maybe they could use someone else's sling. Something in there I don't understand.

I'll wager there is way but I'm at a loss, which is not unusual.

Well I can get either use the Canadian Shaw or Telus satellites at twice what you Mericans pay each month and then have to pay a daily stipend to use the system once I get into the states. Then it costs me to get the location changed so I can use a guide. If I opt for a Merican provider I run into all kinds of issues surrounding a very necessary SSN for them to credit check me.

I used my daughter’s Hulu in AZ last winter. After about a month they shut me down until I returned to my "home area". They know where you are!

Maybe Irene's kids can "tape" the shows she likes and send them to y'all someway?

There are no easy answers for you international types.

Wow thanks for the info .... We've been Dish customers for over 30 years it's performed very well for us.

I realize everyone is different and I'm likely a small minority of the population, but that statement is exactly why I gave up cable that long ago. The numbers really add up over time and I've saved 10's of thousands of dollars on paying to "watch TV"....over-the-air is still available and if there's nothing to watch on those channels, I doubt the mentality of cable programming is worth what one pays for it...I've seen some of those cable channels when I go to my sisters and say WTH???!?!?!

Well, if you understood what they were saying you might reconsider. It's not just the pictures, you know! Sheesh! Foreigners!

What really got me thinking this way was I met some younger person at work many years back (he was from AZ) and he stated he had no TV. I said, huh? Who in this day and age doesn't have a TV? He didn't and had no plans on getting one. I thought, wow, he's making use of all that wasted time doing other things.

So I learned from that I was wasting a lot of $$$ (and time of course) on stupid cable...

Yup.
Cable had a purpose when I lived far from OTA, was employed and needed a diversion.
Now, OTA is plenty enough. And we GO to movies!
