So with only word of mouth - having never read a word of this thread.... Annies sister and BIL (who do not have an RV) are contemplating driving their Suburban from Chicago area to meet all you attending mutants at the GC @ CL.

They think it sounds like fun. They would get a cabin and join in the fun under a Visiting / Prospective Mutant Pass. They may be two of the stealth late night readers. LOL.

Steve this is the story I was going to relate before we were so rudely interrupted by our #1 Polish friend.

The kid brother and I were fishing the Thessalon River in Northern Ontario when we were teens. (Many, many moons have passed) Anywho, as were were fishing from shore an old farmer came down to watch us cast and retrieve our baits. After we got through with the standard weather mentions my brother asked him if there were any fish in the lake and the old guy said "Yup, millions!" My brother asked how he was so sure and his reply was classic, "Been watching people fishing this river for about 50 years and ain't seen anything caught yet. Yes sir, has to be millions in there."

Nifty!
If they become RVMs, would they be the first to be related to current RVMs?
Again, nifty!

Nola is the fisher-person with more luck than sense.
I can use all of my angling skills and trickery to naught, while she hauls them in steady.
If I want fish, she must be in the boat! Other than that, the tasks are quite traditional to man/lady.

Dave, that sounds like some mutant for of ventriloquism. Or are you mind melding with the fish to get them to take her bait instead of yours?

Haha!
It is the truth! She has a totally unconcious talent for catching fish. Many and large.

We are going to be stationed at a CG in Ruskin, FL. We are currently in northern Alabama working our way south. If it's too cold when we get to the Tampa Bay area in a couple of days, we might just go further south for warmth until our reservation starts on Feb. 1. Are we anywhere close (and warm).

The continuing saga

Woke up this morning at 7 a.m. Went out to the MH at 7:30. It was -2* actual and about -15* wind chill.

The inside of ALL of the windows were frozen over. MH engine required about 5 attempts before starting. Genny was required to run the furnace. It started on the 3rd try. Furnace worked like a champ.

I got the Eden Pure heater and got it going in the MH.

With engine running I turned on the dash controls for the defroster . . . . . . . . nothing. The fan must have been frozen in place.

With genny running, I got the DW hair dryer and began to melt the 1/8" of ice on the INSIDE of the windshield. Slowly but surely I removed all of the ice on the windshield and the door. I aimed the hair dryer under the dash for 10 minutes . . . still nothing.

The MH is ready for a test drive up and down the roads. Drove about 2 miles and the defroster came on, the engine began to function perfectly after initial hesitations, and the tranny began to shift perfectly. Woohoo were ready to hit the road. AT 10:00 A.M.

DW is driving the toad with all of the perishables (it was in the garage all night so can goods etc. wouldn't freeze solid). We put the refrigerator stuff in the MH refrigerator just before leaving.

I'm typing this in our room at the Hampton Inn in Athens, AL after driving 416 miles today. Everything worked perfectly once we made it to the freeway and we're headed for warmer Florida tomorrow. (Oh, you thought we were going to camp in 32* and lower temps. NOT)

BTW - - we have no pictures to prove that this happened. Would "scout's honor" be enough????

Enjoying the journey "one mile at a time"
