Here is a tested way:

I bought some 4" strapping, cut it to about 3' longer on each side of the topper. Folded the ends over to a triangle and put a grommet in the fold. Used some good rope through the grommet, down to a spring and a doggie anchor in the ground. Pass the rope through the end of the spring and fix it so it can be adjusted for tightness. Keeps the thump, thump, thump down and keeps the awning from ripping. A 4" wide strap is a must as just a rope will cut through the topper. Been there, done that (Not the rope cutting through though!)
Wayne:

I don't have this problem but if I did I think that I would attach the rope to the bottom of the slide, that way if the coach moved (for any reason) the tension on the strap would stay the same.

I need to file this remedy away because it's a good idea.

Even Odder is the fact that as you left Southwestern Pacific Northwet, the sun left with you. Being pouring like the lead in to Noah since about 3:30 A.m.

Good thing I mowed the lawn yesterday evening, wasn't it?

Be good dear friend and travel safe. Don't let Sena drive no matter how hard she tries to convince you she can handle the chore.
