I've been trying to get there for 4 years... but it doesn't look like we'll make it there this year either.

Thanks for the heads-up. We really like going to festivals like this.

Charles Kuralt with his On the Road program was an RVM trailblazer. According to Wiki "Kuralt hit the road in a motor home (he wore out six before he was through) with a small crew and avoided the interstates in favor of the nation's back roads in search of America's people and their doings." He was a journeyer - a seer. A true RVM.

Yes, a true RVM, Steve.
Charles Kuralt and "On The Road" was a show I seldom missed! I was enthralled by his journeys (which WERE his destination). Having arrived at that mark now often gives me pause at his fine words.
"The everyday kindness of the back roads more than makes up for the acts of greed in the headlines."
Freeways are the boon of those in a hurry, and the bane of those wanting to see. Nola and I have chosen to see, to drink-in the sights and sounds of Americana. And all it takes is time.

I do'wanna mention any names
but I had the greatest conversation with a fellow mutant this a.m. Such a great break from my same'ole routine. I felt truly honored to be able to help out in researching fun things to do up here I am good at research so hey, let me know if I can help you
Anyway, he and his wife may be up this way, so he asked me what sort of festivals we have coming up in the Northwest. While we were talking (mind you, my cell-phone is a cheaper type and hard to communicate with) I asked what types they liked. I think I asked if they liked Shakespearian, Rose Festival, etc. Then I asked if they liked "blues", and he was so cordial, but said that they weren't really interested in drinking much, or something like that. I knew right away my "blues" came out like "booze" on his end, LOL!!
What was so funny about it was how sweet he was, you know, so's not to offend me if I really was a booze enthusiast
Anyway, you know who you are fellow-mutant, and I got a feeling I am going to love you guys, and so hope we get to meet at some point

I like when Ellen has those "auto-correct" phone segments on her show.

I received a hilarious message from my instructor up at the college. She was evidently in a big hurry. I can't remember what it said but she was trying to thank me for bringing something to her attention. Bringing and Attention were spelled totally crazy

Another RVM and I were discussing my plan to go FT with a target date of July '14. I have lamented that we really are getting anxious. They suggested going earlier. There are a number of reasons for that date and I won't bore you with them except to say we are and have been on a 5 year plan. That plan has actually gotten us where we are today - no more S&B (apartment) - no debt except small balance on Bonita Bounder (payoff before hitting road) - pretty well educated on coach and in good repair, savings and investment on track.
But what I didn't count on with the plan was the call of the road. The closer we get the more we long for it. We could ditch the plan but it has negative financial implications I'm not prepared to endure. So for now we stick with the plan. It's gotten us this far. Hopefully we will not have any surprises to slow us down - but as mutants we will adapt. We have come farther and closer than many - and now we execute. As hard as it is to wait - we are by no means suffering.
For those RVMs thinking about going full time one day - plan your work and work your plan. But keep this in mind too - and actually this is what my mutant friend was saying...
"Sometimes it is better to begin the journey, to get under way, then it is to sit back and wait until such time that you're convinced that all conditions are perfect and that there'll be no surprises along the route."
John Engler
Our journey to full time began with the plan. As I ponder the above - and review the plan - I will keep you apprized of any changes. For now, it's keep to plan - the journey so far has been good. The next leg of the journey will be better. After all, living on the rainbow is worth the wait.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. We have no requirement for paint or otherwise - so to define something as a "mutant paint job" or mutant RV is counter to RVM life. So no worries - and glad to see you found your future rig!!
