Normally during duck season I would be excited about light freezing rain and 30 degree weather. Normally these conditions move in from the North and pushing millions of new ducks into our area.

What we are getting is coming out of Texas and I'm afraid of just what it might be pushing ahead of it! lol

I haven't watched the weather to know exactly why cold weather is moving south to north, but it doesn't sound right... Key up the Twilight Zone music.

Glad I'm not flying in Don's area this morning. Got to be hard keeping all those flights in order and keeping the rainbow suppressed !

Congrats Don! By the time you read this you should be Retired! You are clear for takeoff on the rainbow!

There is a way to reset the control board. I'm not sure how but my dad did it a few times on his. He had the same problem and it fixes it. I'll call and ask him how to do it.

Congratulations Don and Sandee. Like I said in my text - this is a big deal no matter what you were planning to do with your life. Your hard work and planning is just beginning to pay off. May your life from here on out be work and trouble free. The fact that you're taking your place on the rainbow makes it that much more exciting. You did it your way my friend, and I'm proud to know ya!

Yep...timed that one right. It still hasn't sunk in yet. Carrying my box of stuff from the tower to the car made is seem more real but it isn't hasn't quite become reality yet. Hard to leave it all behind. I've been involved in ATC for more than 37 years. I've been at Champaign ATCT for more than 32 years and more than 1/2 my life.

Dreaming of being on the rainbow is easy. Transitioning to actually living on it will take some time to wrap my mind around. To be honest, I'm a tad numb. In the words of Steve...it is a big damn deal. I ranks up with HS graduation, Military induction, Military separation and at least 1 of my 2 weddings. LOL (LOVE YOU SANDEE!)

Sandee works until noon on Wednesday and my knee MRI is 9 am on Friday. between now and then we have a few house keeping chores but we have had our "final" good byes with the family. Our first leg of the journey will be a bit of a hustle because we want to get to Macon, GA by Saturday for a surprise Sunday party for my twin grand kids. After that...we will practice sliding onto the rainbow at a more leisurely pace. Our only time table is to be in Alamo TX by December 20th. Between Friday and then we do want to visit the land of RVM2 (Plano, TX) and any mutants in that area.

Taking a deep breath and absorbing the moment. AHHH. Feels good.

Let's all us retirees give Don, AKA Skyboss, a standing ovation for making it to this level of the rainbow. YEAH Don, ata boy! Hurrah!

As we all know, the rainbow has an infinite number of levels. Those of us who have chosen to ride it celebrate all who are here, but make special notice when one of our own ascends to a higher level.

So Don, what's next for you?
