And back to Marty, too ...
I used to post food photos in my blog, especially when there was something notable or at a special place. Eventually I decided to stop because I thought people were not interested. You should have seen the feedback! "Where's the food?!" Etc.

I still take pics of notable food, such as the gorgeous presentations on cruise ships. And that's even if I'm not the one to eat them. No calories in a photo! Unless you inhale while taking it?

Cheers!

So now I'm pondering the meal... the gathering to break bread... the sharing of food...

When I was a kid the family meal was important. We came together in the morning for a little breakfast. A bit hurried but always a period together, however brief. Breakfast set the stage for where we were all headed that day. Our last minute sharing of hopes and dreams for the day, who was depending on whom or what to make it all happen - it all happened at the breakfast table. Whether it was little leauge practice, band or the dentist visit, Mom and dad orchestrated and pulled the strings around the morning meal. And then there was dinner.

Dinner time was sacred. And often it had something to with a little work. Did I pick the tomatoes or OKRA or whatever happened to be coming up out of the ground - if anything. Gardening was more a learning thing than a survival thing for us. But the meal and the family time was special and the sights and colors and dishes themselves were as much a part of the meal as the food or the discussion. Dinner was not a time for TV or music or anything but each other. It was a time for sharing and togetherness. A trip to Rays or A&W or Big Boys was a rare adventure. And then one day everything changed...

Love the pics of the Mini-C foresome, Di. OmNom fer shur.

We grew up on venison due to the sharing. We shared our crops with the deer, they paid us back with protein. $25/month milk money had to be bolstered a bit, ya know?

Today was about 20 miles of back road to Cleator, AZ, population 9.
A very pleasant, laid back place with a general store, an always open yard sale, and the Cleator Bar and Yacht Club. Must go back again!

Dave I've got to follow you around sometime. You find some of the best, off the beaten path, places to visit. Not sure your heading to them or just lost. Lol

Great pics!

Great pics!

We have always searched out the unusual and obscure gems. Maps, internet, info from locals, even rumors have worked out. And sometimes just by wandering in out of the way areas.
It is grand fun, and the local folks are always interesting and glad to see us.
We found many such places where we lived for 25 years!
Ya cant see nuthin if ya dont go lookin. 😄
