So I found this out there among my 6 Face Book friends - and submit it for the RVM Cook Book - Holiday Section. Do I have a second?

Mel asked me to look at a 2000 Fleetwood Discovery in Galveston, so this afternoon Earlene and I visited the coach and took a 1 hour 45 minute tour, asking a lot of questions. Let's face it, a 14 year old coach is going to have some blemishes, and it does. Overall though, the coach is in good shape, being four steps to "shape" 1- fair, 2- good, 3- very good, and 4- excellent. I would rate this as a good +. Some of the minor blemishes keep it from being a "3." I did drive it and it handled well with the air suspension doing its job. The present owner has all the original manuals and the maintenance records for the last four years he has owned it. He purchased a newer coach and is selling this one. The inside was clean and did not have any odors that one would associate with an older coach like this one. Earlene stated that she would not have minded starting out with this MH as a first time breaking in. I took a lot of pictures but I'm saving them for Mel and Kate.

One thing for sure, no need to worry about the refrigerator. It has a commercial model and runs off the 2000 watt inverter with no problem.

Cheers!
Well, we really owe you and Earlene, as well as Herb and Barb. You two looked at the same year and model coach as Herb looked at (for us) in Haslet.

I'm actually going to look at a couple of coaches in Denton in the morning (Herb, I may run into you and Barb!) and then may head down to Haslet to look at the Discovery that Herb checked out for us. Herb gave that coach a "B" and would give it a B+ or A- if it had newer tires and if the dash AC worked. (I think that's how you graded it, Herb. Correct me if I'm wrong.) Those are negotiating points, for sure. I want newer tires and working AC in the cab.

Truthfully, we LOVE the Discovery layout. Seems very live-able for us. But, we know there are other coaches with very good layouts, as well. We'll look at many, I'm sure. Although, I did bring the checkbook .... just in case, Steve. Don't panic. I won't buy without consulting Kate, you and Annie, Herb & Barb, Wayne & Earlene, and Santa Clause. I will think on it overnight and not make an impulse buy.

But I think what I've learned from you guys' look-see at the 2 coaches is that we can find a decent coach in our current price range that we will consider our "entry level" motorhome. And perhaps one of the 2 will end up being our first coach.

Will let you know what I see on Saturday. The search is fun! And I couldn't be more appreciative of your help.

If we find our coach soon, we'll be able to make some weekend "practice" trips and then be ready to make the trip to Arkansas in April. I should have enough PTO built up to take 2 days off. If everything works out, we'll be there. YIPPEE!!!

Lol.... And the judges should not be able to see who submitted what....
All entries should be given to them by an impartial person, all at the same time... I would volunteer to be this person......

Since neither if those are in my make anymore recipe box.... Too much time and effort..... Too many good ones on the market.....

Mel,

Nice to see that you are taking your time. There are many nice MH's out there that will fit your style. You just have to be in the right place at the right time. Keep lookin'.

Nope!

It's likely an issue from when the "Pony Express" had to switch horses in Wyoming or something. Someone maybe forgot to do the "Ole Switcheroo" with the saddlebags. Could be a "Lame" horse issue as well.

I suppose when advertising for judges, the prerequisite should have been posted "Iron Stomach" a must!

I wish I could have beamed em down Scotty. I have no idea how long it should take to get to ya - and that is entirely different from how long it will take

Edit - and I look forward to a pic of Mort enjoying them!
