Hello Mutants !!!

Well we landed in Abilene, TX last night, and it was by hook and crook that we made it all in one piece. Marcia and I were going to and had every intention to go 635 to 20 and blissfully westward ho from there, BUT, we missed the turn onto 635 south and so forged forth into the DFW area on I30 we saw only one tie up of construction origin, and one small import skittering from the left lanes to the right because one of its left wheels fell off its chassis, but made it we did all in one piece no thanks to the stress inducing narrow lanes and truckers that like to shake hands as they miss your mirrors by tenths of an inch.

So today we will push on towards El Paso, TX it should be a sedate drive compared to yesterday,

Welcome #101 to our fold, you couldn't have landed in a better spot.

Dwayne where in AZ are ya ??

Cheers !!!!

Morning Jeff. Hi Marcia. Can you say 380 at Greenville to Decatur. Or at least help me understand how any of that was worth 30 or 45 minutes. Also - when ya get to McKinney - I believe ya can usually find room to park here or near it...

Annie just looked out the window and said... Sue and Martin didn't have to leave... there's nobody in their space...

I know you will enjoy the roughing it though. We await the pictures...

Hey Steve,

We are way past McKinney, and are in Abilene, TX. It would have been much easier to go around, and it was our intention to do so, but, we missed our exit and had to journey on as turning around at the next exit would have been counter productive. As it was, it could have been much worse. Anyway, we made it and didn't end up needing any medication. I am thankful for the support of my mutant siblings none the less.

Cheers !!!

I would accept summa them good vibes for 🎶 good, good mutations 🎶 and return them twofold.

I was just sayin - had ya taken 380 - you would have driven 1000 feet from some of the best BBQ anywhere... and not missed a turn etc.

I have been to Abilene. Was stationed in Lubbock. Visited base there once years ago.

😥 Oh well. Such is the 🌈. Besides, we coulda had way too much jolliment, and you would never have gotten anything else done. True dat?

Tell ya what, though: we've never seen so many skeeters in one place as here. Even as cool as it was last night, they were hanging in clouds around the camper doors. Not even Naples (FL) equals this, and that's going some.

Too early for pics, and someone threw a blanket over the sun, but you can bet yer bippy I'll go walk the beach later on!

Ts ta!

I wondered about the luck of us folk leaving Rockport. Air springs, careless drivers, lockouts .... What next?

So, a few times in our travels I have fat fingered the lever lock and locked myself out. Each time Earlene was inside the MH, so as embarrassing as it was I had to knock on the door for her to let me back in. I am now very careful when we step outside together because she typially does not hake her set of keys with her when we are just going to walk. However, she has the annoying, but necessary. way of asking me everytime before the door closes if I have my keys.

I think I have remedied this situation. I ut one of those realator locks in the propane compartment with both a door/bay key and ignition key, just in case. It works! Ever since I put that in there I have never locked myself out.

Wuss! Glad to hear Shara is on the mend.

Di and Larry, If Jeff hasn't made accommodations anywhere, check with the RV camp and see if they have room for an overnight guest. Typically there are two ways to gt a guest through the gate. First is to park them somewhere and take all their paper work to the visitor center and get a pass. This is very good if they are going to be there for awhile. The easy way at 99% of the installations is to have someone with a military ID card in the vehicle when they come through the gate. At least that is the way it has worked for me.

Did you try the ThermaCell?

===============================

Jeff, I'm so surprised, since you wanted to get to where you are going quickly, that you didn't put on your little ballerina tutu and click your heels together.

What a mental picture that conjures up.

Wayne, we bought 2 ThermaCells plus refills. Opened the first one last night & I will take it outside with me from now on! Didn't have it while we were locked out, worse luck!

Next thing is to light a nice smokey fire. And sit in the smoke, cough, sputter, wipe eyes. Last camper left us some great (wet!) firewood to start with.

Cheers!
