Well Jeff... we are at this point ready to give Utah a month or more. Then probably drop down to Colorado / New Mexico and over to Yuma by Dec 1st. It's as a rough a plan as we're able to make now. We can catch ya in Moab too. Looks to be 320 miles between Bryce and Moab. Is your Jeep getting excited???

We aren't suggesting Salt Lake just that we will drop into the state from the north (moving that direction from Sioux Falls) and work our way south over a month or so. I checked Bryce weather in August and the average high temp was 81. And it seemed reasonable to me. And there is so much to see and do.

I talked to Possum today and Southern Utah is within his distance limits.

I knew you didn't want to go to Idaho so in looking at the suggestions I had - and after talking with others it seemed Utah was high on the list.

So as I await input from the Contact Us list and read up I will be able to Guage our time a bit better and Annie can scout our adventures.

Weather here: https://weatherspark.com/averages/29...-United-States

Thanks.... steve......

Things to consider when scheduling GC 2.0

Before we choose a date and location for the second Grande Curiosity there are a few things I feel that are important to consider.

Date -- we will find better rates and fewer crowds if we book our invasion during the camp ground's off season. For GC 1.0 we booked the last week of CL's off season. During the week we pretty much had the place to ourselves. I think this greatly added to the magic of the FEGC@CL.

The date will also be an important consideration as to the weather. We won't have near as much fun if the weather is crappy.

Location -- I'm delighted with the choice of Utah. I have been fascinated with the freakishly odd assortment of landscapes there.

It will be next to impossible to find any campgrounds as well suited to our group of STMs as is Catherine's Landing. I rarely stay in a CG so I'll trust others to know more about this. Perhaps we might list the desired amenities and rank them according to some priority list.

OK, I've had my say on the matter. Next!

Well my nationality puts a different meaning to the term "The Boys." In our use the term is usually coincidental with a visit from the broken knees collection agency, if you get what a mean?

Chicago is also in the "Frozen Tundra" area and my cousin Guido loves traveling in the warmer climes.

Pay attention boy, badda bing badda bong.

Well Steve not that I want to Moab just yet I like the thought of Bryce canyon before heading back to Arches National Park, but ya the Jeep is excited. We would be in the process of making our trek back from points further east.

Cheers !!!

Thanks Di. Annie and I have done the Black Hills several times on our way to and from Yellowstone and the Tetons. We are planning to scoot through but since we're slow rolling everywhere from here on out we just may visit a bit.

We even parked the B-van on 2 occasions and stayed in the Historic Franklin Hotel one year and the Bullock Hotel in Deadwood another year. We stayed in the Seth Bullock Suite there. We both like to play slots and had a good time there.

Did the Custer State Park a couple of times too. We are looking forward to seeing the area around Sioux Falls and Iowa - and never did stop at Mitchell so we will see the Corn Palace which is what it is lol.
