Too bad there is only grey in the sky... still playing with the settings in the camera... and that longer lense would come in handy.

Great pic Steve, to the novice like me there are a dozen birds you can call that!
I've been known to ready for a shot on incoming birds when duck hunting, only to have said duck fly over and land in the top of a tree. ( Ducks don't land in trees)
On a completely different note, just notified by mail my driver license renewal is up, humm vision test !

Au contraire! Watched a pair of Mallards try to make a nest in the neighbors oak tree a few years ago!

It definitely a hawk and red tail my guess... since that's what's around here. When there is actually sunshine you can see the tail feathers fairly well - but they don't land in palm trees that I know of. The next lense length isn't weather resistant like this one but it will get out to 305 in 35mm equivalent. That would be an improvement. Have it on the wish list.

Maybe a lake Tim hunts at. He tells me his hunting prowess is so high that even the ducks know of him and they've been taken to imitating robins so they can survive. Tim wouldn't exaggerate about this would he?
