After having read through this entire thread, food is a big part of it with all the gatherings and mini, midi C's, etc. This is one area where we will not fit in too well (the food part) (the visiting part we love). I've had to google some of the things you eat just to find out what they are. LOL. I've had catfish once when I was little and remember it tasting like dirt. Now, I'd take a salmon or kokanee any day but only if it is cooked. I grew up with beef, potatoes and gravy. About the only vegetable we had growing up was green beans, corn or carrots. I've been deprived so it seems. On top of all that, I have some food allergies that will cause me to make an inquiry of all the ingredients of everything someone makes before I can try it. I have been to potlucks where the only thing I can eat is what I bring. LOL. Even with all this, can't wait to meet some of you all down the road. Enjoy CL!

Deb, no problem, and we eat when we are hungry. Since we have a tolerance for all, well almost all (for Tim's sake - no mountain oysters), and when visitors are in town we always ask what they want. There's something for everyone out there and we all get hungry once in a while. All the talkin' 'bout going out to eat, etc., well for us it may just be "The Meal Of The Day," and it can be anywhere from 1 p.m to 7 or so p.m. - just never know.

Good morning all ye who mutate and ride the rainbow!

Some mutants have had "eating curtailment procedures", some are vegetarian, some are Gluten Free, some are alergic to shellfish, some alergic to other things. But all eat something - some even eat several times a day. The sharing of a meal - the family meal, the foodie pics - just a way of sharing the joys of our journey. No eating requirements in the RVMdom!

As for catfish tasting like dirt.... there is a algae that can cause the fish to have an earthy taste. Also a blood line and the parts of the fish that are dark or yellow. I usually place the filets in a little seasoned milk for an hour or more. Like many things, when done properly it is delicious. When not, not so much. I think the dirt or mud taste is more common with farm raised fish and less so with wild fish.

What say you Catfish Tim...

Nope, not in my experiences
farm raised catfish are fed processed fish food, even i can eat those some,
river catfish are mud suckers... They eat the bugs off the bottom...

And as The boys said.... No one eats everything? Food is just the starter, the conversation is the thing.....

Farm raised is generally always good, wild will depend on which species. Channel or Blue cats is what we usually catch and in the 3-5 lb range taste great. I have tasted flathead's that were good but they tend to be the muddy tasting fish.

Deb ruling out catfish in your diet because of a bad taste once long ago is your loss! But then again I don't like English Peas! No mountain oysters this time but who knows what the future will bring! Lol

That reminds me, I've got to go out and collect the cow chips! They may be extra slippery after the rain!

Look out Arkasas, here we come!

G'mornin' Muteys! Today we leave our Florida friends who have graciously endured us for the last 4+ months and head north. Smarty and the MoHo got a much needed scrubbing yesterday. I'm hoping someone else gets the best patina award this year.

I still need to get the kayak and wagon loaded on top of Smarty. She is sporting a new rooftop carrier so the yak and wagon won't have to ride inside MoHo. We hope to leave by noon and get 250 miles closer today.

If anyone is on the fence about joining this band of misfi ... er uh fine folks I suggest you give in to the temptation. If you find laughter, great company and darn good eats appealing you need to declare your mutant self and join us at Catherine's Landing next week.

See y'all in Arkansas!

X2 to Ford's Garage in Ft Myers. Ate there many times, including opening day. Also Twisted Vine, Firestone's, Capone's and Cabos. These are all owned by same guy. Downtown Ft Myers is a great place to visit, but RV spots are hard to come by in season.

Oh I'm not ruling them out. I've never had the opportunity to ever try them again. No restaurant in my neck of the woods has them on the menu that I'm aware of. I do live in the boondocks.

Mountain oysters - I will definitely make that my loss. Never tried and never will. LOL.

Earlene and I have to go to the hospital today and pick up Citrus.
