I have camped in just about every one, that has spots..... All are nice, but the ones south oh I40 are in mosquito territory...
Order the state park guide, nice to still have paper to browse...
My fav app for finding parks is All-Stays... It shows all kinds, amenities, links, etc, and you can filter out kinds of parks...
we also hosted at the one Tim and Mary host in, Lake Ouachita State Park, also had camped there, beautiful.... Especially the water... And they have things like boat info tours.... But we didnt like being hosts.... Even tho Tim hooked us up as hosts.....
Dont count out no sewer, as long as there is a dump site...
The Corp of Engineer park in Little Rock is Maumelle Park, and is nice. All COE parks will be on or very close to water.....
Go to their website.
We also go for interesting scenery..
Miss you both.... When you decide to get your Westie.... Nancy's Westies in Russellville, AR ..... OR Strawberry River Westies in North central AR.... One from each....

Speaking of Mosquitos, Di -- I've been taking 250 mg of Thiamine (vitamin B-1) and haven't been bit once after the first week. AND that includes the last few weeks I was in Florida. Marty, thanks for suggesting it! It's cheaper than the sprays and no Deet smell.

Campground info.com (or .org - can't remember at the moment!) is also a terrific resource.
We've camped on BLM lands, at NFS campgrounds, CoE parks and dozens of state parks all over. (Fave state parks are Tyler SP near Tyler, TX, Palo Duro Canyon SP near Amarillo, Beavers Bend SP in SE OK, and Mueller SP in CO. We will try Ouchita one of these days!
I was thinking I'd enjoy hosting. What didn't you like about it?

Mel... Loved the people greeting part...
Did not like having to do rounds twice a day, at 9 and 3.... Felt it Restricted us too much. Litter pickup as well as changing reservation tags, took almost an hour each round.
Larry being DAV gets half off on state parks, so for us we did not feel it justified it.....
The staff was great, the park was great...
So we will allow others to have the privilege.....

They had facilities and vending machines. No hookups... but a pretty location. And the price was right.

Lol... I wouldn't even walk down it - and the best to see was down there. Pulled this pic from net.. had to settle for forest and trees... but it was a nice drive. About 240 miles round trip. Nice to stretch the legs on the hail and back CRVMutant. And seeing Sue and Martin was a bonus!

Next time mutants pass through Sikeston Mo try the Cheers Bar and Grill. The steaks are hand cut - char grilled to perfection and as tasty as any I have grilled myself.:thumbup:
