In a moment of weakness, I allowed the spouse to convince me to sell my cherished van and buy something newer. Well that's all water under the bridge now, so like I was saying the urge to get another restorable small van is growing strong.
The way I envision the restoration would be to completely dismantle it, then purchase a small diesel for repowering and build it back up around that somewhat heavier engine. The question is ... do you think I should move the engine a foot or so toward the rear to take some weight off the front axle? The way the stock engine is situated, the center of mass is very close to the center line of the front axle.
Next question ... is this the type of restoration that you would be interested in taking on? No time constraints like we see on the TV reality car shop shows. Those guys are more into acting like wild animals than doing a restoration.
Do you know what the small Cummins weighs? Suggestions on transmission brand, type?

I worked on those for 12 years in the Twinkie fleet. The bread and cake trucks were E350 stripped chassis with the aftermarket body mounted to them. If you found a E350 Van installing the 4BT Cummins would be a piece of cake. The only issue that I saw with these is the king pins wore out faster because of the additional engine weight. Some of the route trucks got 17+ mpg and had plenty of power to get around. I only had one with the Allison automatic but it was good too. That was on a Freightliner chassis though. As long as you service the 4BT on a regular basis and set the vales at the recommended interval you should be good to go!! Go for it!!

And again HAPPY FATHERS DAY to all the Dads out there!!

Huh? what does Mother's day have to do with kickball?

Basically why I was again looking at the card. I will await either of the senders to explain this one. I did find it quite hilarious when it arrived and still think it a good joke.

Dwayne, my Grand Cherokee is stock with lotsa creature comforts and my DW is not all that fond of the shorter Jeeps chassis and the ride quality. I have to get something with all the attributes she likes. Like at Earlene and Wayne's house, we have the same rule; I'm free to do whatever Denise tells me to do.

The shoulder is doing fine. She is taking the minimum meds to help with swelling and discomfort. We think that in a few days when can get off the ones that maker her a tad groggy. Maybe we will re-evaluate because those meds make me less agitating. LOL

Don whatever ones she doesn't use I am sure Denise can put to good use; anything to make me less aggravating has to work well for her. We are happy things are working so well so quickly.

No one thought she would be doing this great and we had been told she would probably need a live transplant by now. Love the Children's hospital team they are amazing.

Thanks for the update Colleen. This is very good to hear. I don't think many of us were aware but I have kept the Ommms flowing. Docs are amazing these days and Children's has some of the best. So good to hear.
