We will always use private over doing the VA wait forever. The VA here connects to our medical school hospital. Many doctors are in both. His cardiologust is the head of Internal Med at both.....

Anyway, that as well as Larrys will not be just a outpatient surgery, not like gall bladder when i was home by noon.
He will have to overnight and pissibly longer if the wire leads into his heart have to be replaced..... Wish they could just change out the battery.... But a cardiovascular surgeon and anesthisiologist are required.... They will stop his heart and then restart it to make sure the thing works... ICD, Internal Cardiac Defibrilator.....
