My maintenance and repair costs
Steve and all,
I told Mel that I have spent ~ $2,000 total on RV repairs and maintenance in the 4 years that I've been full timing in this 25' class C. That includes the new cooling unit for the fridge, 2 golf cart house batteries, a new condenser, 6 oil/filter changes and a bunch of little fixes I've had to do. I lucked out when Michelin recalled the original tires a year ago. I have also spent an additional $2,000 on the solar panels and installation.
Understandably Mel is in panic mode over the cost of putting Bow back on the road and is comparing her expenses to mine. I've dismissed any ideas I ever had about moving up to a DP because of the higher cost of maintenance.
I feel for you Mel! Hang in there -- it's got to get better.

Looks great Carl. I hope that the Element isn't $11K. At that point, they might want to total it. Seems to drive ok with the dents though.

If I'm concerned about losing a post, I'll always select all/copy it into the clipboard before anything goes wrong. That way it's really easy to recover.

But you bought yours new, isn't that true? They are dealing with a used unit.
But I'm with others who poo-poo the 5th wheel approach. I think unless you bought all that gear new, you're always at risk of doing the fix-up repairs before you go into maintenance mode. With my RV, I totally lucked out purchasing used and am just in maintenance mode.
I also wonder what level of trust you have with the repair shop. Seems there is some level of miscommunication going on or something…

Thanks Larry. There was some Nova show or something that proved a car with dimples gets better mileage, so I should've just kept the $$$ and drove with the dimples

Yes it's the condenser. I don't know why I keep calling it a compressor. They put in a new condenser. There is actually a hole in that coil. They told me they could braise (?) it. (Put a copper patch over the hole.) they offered to give me the truck rate rather than the moho rate and knock off an hour or two on the price.
