Official Report of PNW Mini-C

Yesterday Sena and I drove to Issaquah, WA to visit Papaw Steve. Mary Ann was away on a girls weekend and we missed not seeing her. It was really nice to get some mutant hugs!

Sadly a bad pic commemorates a fun event. Neither Steve or I had a selfie stick. That explains the strained look on my face as I tried to stretch my arm far enough to get us both in. Sena declined an invitation to join us.

In Margate on a typical English Bank Holiday - cold and wet!

Sue will describe the experience later.

Martin..... Larry said when he lived in Whitstable they used jellied eels for bait... If you see him, 25 years younger or 45 years younger say hello.... His son and grands.... Yep Ziemski.... Tell Sue to try the watercolorist again...

The aspic is basically a gelled clear salty (sea?) water. The eels themselves are like small fish steaks, crosswise cut into inch thick slices with the skin on. The meat is white, soft, and fine textured, sort of sweetly salty. The skin is softer, almost gelatinous.

My little pot of half a dozen pieces was enough for a good seaside snack. Crazy about them? No, I guess not, but I liked them well enough to repeat some other time. Maybe with a skinful of likker, I might feel differently.... Possum?

I wouldn't know for sure Sue. I did the taste testing the other way round but the description is as I remember them and yes i plan to have them again next trip over. I do want to actually ride behind that brand new steam locomotive they are building for the L & B Railway. The 762 Club - Recreating locomotive history in North Devon

In a way I agree with Larry. I liken sushi to bait also. You never did say what Larry's brother Larry says about the jellied eels.

Recently I am seeing commercials about some spray for your nostrils that is supposed to emulate the nasal clearing ability of the salt spray in the air near oceans. Don't believe it works at least for me as I am constantly suffering from plugged sinuses and I live on the west coast close to the Pacific Ocean. .

So, OK. I was busy enjoying myself at the wedding and I think I might have taken one. Bob took pictures of the view that the wedding happened against. So, I stole a pic of my baby sis and her little family and mother in law off Facebook for ya....the one I took was of the car...I was amused by the soda bottles. Behind it. When I was young, folks saved a few tin cans to attach back there.

Sue, Di, et al...just pokin ya about the salt lamp. And I NEEEEED one.
Finished the second leg of the Loneliest Road in America, Hwy50.
It gets busier on the Western end. Saw about 40 vehicles today! The "scenic road" stature is true, and the grades up/down were easy.

Sue, all I could envision when thinking "jellied eels" was "Gummy Worms."
