Mel ... you and I may be in dreamland on the same day. Not looking forward to it, but it's another one of those "gotta do or else" cancer removal deals. Doc didn't tell me how long I'd be "under", but actually I won't have any concept of dreamland time. Sleepyby, then wakieup. Minus one kidney, in my case. I'd not recommend this as a method for dropping a couple of pounds.
However the doc is very upbeat about my survival chances. He said he loses very few under the knife. Huh? The reason I don't go to gambling casinos is ... I like to have 100% assurances of winning.
Just in case however, I've been giving the Little Red Hen a crash course on important financial stuff, as well as how to deal with the bus and vehicles so she can sell them if need be.

Hey, not nice dropping the Operation Bomb on the rest of the family on such short notice.
Just hope your doctor is the little short kid with glasses that stars in your movies. He gets everything right.

It's all been a whirlwind for me too. After seeing the CT scan, the urologist immediately got all the pre-op stuff and scheduled a surgery PRONTO. He actually wanted to get me in sooner but the butcher blocks are all booked through most of next week. I get my time on the table next Friday at 0900.
Oh, and yes ... my doc IS a short little kid with Coke bottle bottom glasses. Should I be worried?
Hey folks, don't worry about me. I'm a proven survivor ... honest. I'll be back here tossing out sarcasm as soon as I get my feathered fingers on a keyboard. Might even post from the recovery room!

Both you (Moonrover) and Mel (MPH) are in all of our thoughts and prayers! A lot of us have been through a lot together and don't think any of you will be alone. We will be right here for you both.
Let your wife know too!

Our oldest granddaughter has PKD and had to have her kidney removed, and a few other parts at 18 months old. I have to say I wasn't sure who was older her or the doctor. But that doctor has our love and respect!!! He saved her life, we never thought she would even get this far - 9 years latter and her other kidney has re grown to 100%. That young doctor is still our favorite doctor in the world. Not looking much older either!
Your doctor will be amazing!

I say Moonrover! Son I been there done that! Yep, doc called me at work said kidney had to come out! What a thing to drop on a person at work! Well further test showed it might be possible to keep the kidney but wouldn't know till they got in there. In my case the cyst was the size of the kidney but they saved the kidney and rumor has it that I look much younger after the surgery. (Ok so I started the rumor )
Anyway son better to have a steady handed young doc than a grumpy shaky old guy!
Get er done and get back on here!
