Mel - Pahrump is a nice place and the park is too (and yes a little pricey lol). It does seem we are a little late in the year as the wind the is a bit high the past 2 days and out of the north - to north west. And of course the rain that hit the desert earlier in October has the roads washed out for two of the most popular roads in Death Valley. Kind of sad but the neighbor went the other day and says there is still much to see. So it remains on the to do list.

We have also heard that the road into China Ranch Date Farm is pretty rough after the rain but we may make that trek anyway. Dave raves about date shakes so if we can - we will give them a try. Although I'm always good with a nilla shake!

Another attraction is the Ash Meadows Wildlife Refuge.

http://www.fws.gov/refuge/ash_meadows/

The website indicates some road closures as well.

Current road closures*due to severe road damage and wet and muddy conditions (as of 10/23/2015):*

Longstreet Road is*CLOSED Crystal Loop Road is*CLOSED
Spring Meadows Road at the WEST entrance (NV 373) is CLOSED

Open Roads:

Spring Meadows Road is*OPEN*at the SOUTH entrance (Bell Vista Rd/State Line Rd).*NO THRU TRAFFIC.*on Spring Meadows Road*
Devils Hole Road is*OPEN*through to Crystal, NV. Point of Rocks Road is*OPEN.

Locals have indicate Devils Hole at Ash Meadows is worth the trip. So it remains on the list as well.

And don't forget "Universe closed. Use Rainbow"!

Attached is the book's front cover. I would have chosen one of her best illustrations for the cover, but this one is still good for a 14 or 15 yo. I don't know when she drew this particular illustration. All illustrations are color pencil. Originals were usually approximately 16 x 12.

Her grandmother and I had tears in our eyes when we realized that her dream was coming true.

Fantastic news! A talented young lady there with a great future as she follows her dream.

After I wrote a check for the work, we followed behind as James drove Bow down the highway. We hadn't gone too many miles until I asked Kate to pull up closer behind the coach. I'd noticed something leaking from the rear.

We pulled up close and sure enough, I smelled diesel fuel and it was hitting our windshield as we followed. I called James and had him pull over. Diesel fuel was pouring out from the fuel line or the fuel pump or somewhere. James turned off the engine and the leaking slowed then stopped. Then, when he restarted the engine, the fuel started pouring again, and I don't mean a little drip. It was pouring out. Wish I'd taken a video of it on the phone. But, at the time I was so shocked and frustrated that I didn't even think about making a video.

James said that he had no power when he hit the accelerator. Said it took forever to accelerate and then he could barely even get it to 55 mph.

Soooooo .... back to Freightliner on Monday. They were the last ones to do something to ("fix") the fuel pump after Cummins in Amarillo totally screwed it up.

I don't even know what to say. I'm so discouraged. Just when I thought we had everything fixed and ready to go ....

Freightliner will "fix" it and then what next?

Is it time to sell Bow? Anybody have a good, working crystal ball they can look at for us?

Les, that 5th wheel of yours looks better all the time ....

Starting with the ommmms! Good thing that omm-blanket stays on trickle charge all the time!

Next, I suppose, is the old statement that if it weren't for bad luck .... I can't imagine how you feel, but I do know Citrus and Bow aren't the only ones with horror stories to tell. I will check further down the forum for good news and hope it's there. You two deserve some good times out on the rainbow!

Finishing up with more ommms!

X2 on the frustration front. Do we need a spreadsheet that can be printed off? If I were smarter, I'd write such things down as they came up. I'll try to at least do that.

Looks like a band will be playing tomorrow at Shoshone, but you seem to have all the bases covered!!
We were in the Shoshone RV Park....About 100' from the highway back into Shoshone from DVNP. We walked to town (1/8 mile) for Shoshone days.

Won big on lottery tickets. Spent $20 and cashed $6.

Lol. So how was the band?

We drive to Vegas in CR-VMutant on Thursday to see the doc and back to Nevada Treasure. Then move to Oasis next Monday. Hopefully we can get together one place or another.

Sure gets dark early now... and the wind has been busy today! All in all though Pahrump is a nice place. Several long term folks here and met a couple today that just bought a house here.

The guy across from us has been here a year. He's from Alaska. Decided he liked it. Flew home in August instead of driving back. No plans to leave.

Got your number and you have mine!

Mutant gathering in Arizona

Dave and Nola did a wonderful job of checking out the "digs" at Pima County Fairgrounds in Tucson.

Now our task is to establish a workable schedule for the most mutants.

I would say that:
1) the area of Arizona is quite doable.
2) The cost is really decent.
3) The sites are good enough for a week's stay (pictures show that some of us will need to purchase some "stinky Slinky" extensions or plan of visiting the dump station once or twice).
4) The facilities at the park seem adequate (might have to fire up a couple propane campfires as a last resort).
5) the park seems to be willing to accommodate our "special needs".

So . . . . . let me call the RV office at PCF. I will check or double check on:
1. definite dates open to a gathering of mutants so we can "circle the wagons" and really have a shindig
2. Availability of campfire rings
3. putting together a set of choices to put before all of you mutants that can head to Tucson in January or February.
4. get the park's input on where the best area is for a group like ours (close to pavilion, close to mid-coach sewer hook-ups, close to area where they or we can move picnic tables to our sites, etc)

If you prefer, I can gather input from you at an alternate website but I have no idea how to do that and I don't know if all mutants could or would follow our progress in planning. I don't want to "clog up" our thread with info that concerns 8 - 15 sets of mutants. SO HELP ME PLEASE ON THE ALTERNATE SITE

Stay tuned to this thread. I'll try to work on this planning thing during November and have things ready to "run by ya'all" as soon as possible.
