I have one of the above in my shop to keep toasty warm all winter. In fact after about 10 minutes running when the ambient temperature outside is close to 32ºF I have to turn it down. Sure beats being cold.
I also have two of these http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applicatio...w&gclsrc=aw.ds that we used at a farm house my son used to live in. Both are claimed safe to use indoors.

Turn the thermostat down on the refrigerator and keep the doors open. Sit close!

Here is my concern regarding space heaters. My coach, and many others, is designed to provide heat to the utilities compartment. This will keep anything from freezing in that compartment when the temps drop below 30˚. My heat pumps do a fine job of keeping us toasty. If the temperature drops rapidly not only does the heat pump come on but the furnace will come on until there is a 2˚ or less differential. Then the furnace kicks off and the heat pump will run until the required thermostat temperature is reached.
I let the system do what it was designed for and the pipes to not freeze.
Of course, there is always hanging the light bulb in the water compartment for supplemental heat.

The link bombed Dennis... but thanks for the info. The bigger one uses 2 of the 1lb cans - the smaller uses one and both have a hose for 20 lb tanks.

Weirdest of the weird time Steve. I cli9cked the link in your reply to me and it went straight to the Tiger Direct site and to the exact page so I wonder why the site didn't work for you?
Sounds like my sort of weird luck.

So... G'Night Mutants.
Don and Sandy... more heartfelt Ommms your way.
Possum - are ya bringing that shop heater to AZ... ???
Sue... so you and Martin are flirting with change. Exciting times!
Where the heck is Mel???
Moonrover, you are in our thoughts and the Ommms continue.
Barb - that's a pretty cool thermostat!
Wayne - excellent point on vents to the bays and tanks on coaches with that feature. It would have to get below freezing and stay there a while before the tanks / plumbing / hose / etc would stress.
Di - does your tag have the passive steer?
Carl - cool news from you! Have the feather faces been to the desert before.
OK - as Herb would say - #2 on the side. And speaking of Herb... ???
Papaw Steve - great job! And hope you're feeling better. Omms.
So tomorrow is another day. Be kind everyone.

R U an RV Mutant
Good morning mutants.
Still too excited to sleep. Oh the possibilites with change, so far taking early retirement was a fantastic idea. Will let you all in on it once it is official, don't want to jinx it.
Don and Sandee many oohhmmms, you are in our thoughts.
Heaters.... we have always used electric when its free to supplement the furnace. Have used ceramic, but found an oil filled radiator type at Walmart cheap, end of season clearance. It works great... no noise and a lot of heat. Think its safer with Sheba too.

Not at all. It's going to be a real trip for them I'm sure. They've been enjoying our short stay here where it's been above-average temps for pretty much the entire month of November. Totally looking forwards to Feb, can hardly wait...
