On the way home we stopped at the Valley Meats shop, a hole-in-the-wall mom-n-pop shop that is the oldest in Yuma.
We get sausage: hot, regular, italian, and german.
If y'all don't try it, it ain't my fault.

Today was the Annual Tamale Festival in Somerton, a fine charitable event. We sample many of the 40+ vendors and the bring some home to freeze.
The winner for us was the one that won the top prize for "The Most Authentic Tamales.
And the music was grand!

Nola and I thank you!
You have snookered us into probably staying in that area next season. We have had 3 periods in Yuma. Time to Mutate!
Uh-oh! GC? Or is it "Ruh-roe"?

Mmm, that's what I would have had, Steve! Only get it when I eat out someplace that has it...

Me too Marty. Annie almost moved to another seat at the counter. Nothing has ever come close to even the memory of my grandmother's - liver and onions (both sides of the family). My mom's mom was a great cook pretty much all around. My dad's mom was too, but she had a couple things that are forever in my memory as hers. 1. Lamb about any way ya like it and depending on what was available and they could afford at the time 2. Rabbit - skillet and whatever was around. But this I know I have said before... dad's mom could make a lemon meringue pie like she invented it. Pretty sure I mentioned that my grandfather was trimming his fig tree and fell out of it into the lemon tree below. Broke a couple ribs. Not sure how old he was, but he had no business being up there lol.

Dave, next time I'm in a place where a curiosity happens I can get to, I'll bring you some horehounds. I actually bought my own plant to make my own extract.... just need to get the vodka now....put the leaves in a canning jar, cover with the vodka, wait 2-3 weeks and shake it daily and voila, strain it out!
