Nearly at Red Bay, by the sound of it not having as much fun as you lot though. We're at Vicksburg Staying at the Casino RV park. Managed to win enough to cover a very good dinner and most of Pat's wine...so I'll take that as a win all day long.

Be safe out there and watch out for those little green men.

Yesterday, Sue and I were returning to the park from Maricopa after dark and we saw to the left a couple of clusters of lights high in the sky. At first, Sue thought it was two planes on a landing approach but they were too close to each other, the lights were too yellow and they were stationary.

Each cluster comprised four or five lights and just hovered there for about ten minutes then just spluttered out one after the other.

A Google search reveals that these sightings are quite common and most of the explanations given relate to a nearby Air Force range putting up flares. Quite how they get those flares to hover for so long is mystifying.

Very spooky - we will take a look outside this evening.
The flares have a small parachute to slow their decent. If the air currents are such they can appear to be hovering, or the directions of their decent can be deceiving and make it appear to be stationary (hovering). Think a tornado. When traveling toward you it gets bigger but only if it is moving in a direction left or right will it appear to be moving. BTW, if you see one getting bigger, duck.

Used to watch the flares all the time in VN and sometimes they would stay up for 2 or 3 minutes, which seemed like a very long time.

I guess I'll start saving some of the smaller feathers of my buddies as they fall out. Those are really neat looking.

On my trip back from Tucson, I noticed a trucker at some stop that had one hanging from his ceiling.

This harkens (what a great word) back to my times at Lake Nokomis that pours itself into Minnehaha Creek, ending at Minnehaha Falls where it tributes into the Mississippi River. There at the mouth of Creek was a cave where I took my lady friends and a candle.
By the shores of Gitche Gumee,
By the shining Big-Sea-Water,
Stood the wigwam of Nokomis,
Daughter of the Moon, Nokomis.
Dark behind it rose the forest.
Di, you show that there may not be any artistic medium beyond your grasp.

Doesn't mean ya can't... bet ya can do a fine job of it! You just don't like oils cause they take forever to dry and not sure about what your beef with acrylics is... Maybe because they are less challenging? Have no 'life of their own'... as in they stay put on the paper where you put them and don't move about on the paper like watercolors do.

I wish I (we) were in a position to roam about at this time in my life.

Hopefully soon and not never.
